very clever

Can someone let me use their credit card and I'll give them the cash? I don't want to put this much money into paypal because they have been taking a lot in fees from me, those bastards!

Need some advice....

So I have a job opportunity within att.. It is a promotion but the only thing is that it is in Sherman.. Means an hour drive one way, 50 miles one way... Soooo 100 miles roundtrip.

This could be a great opportunity to advance myself through the company..

What do you guys think?

Ofcourse since my G is my daily driver I am not sure if it would be too much of a toll on the car. It would be all highway driving.

dang, an hour drive every day would suck. I did it for about 60 months and it was a pain.

I drove to ftworth for a job and it was at least an hour without traffic, when there was traffic it could be up to 2 hours... not fun waking up at 6:00 to get to work by 9:00..

depends if "the juice is worth the squeeze"

everything
I went from a 10 min. drive to work in WI to a 30+ min drive down here in TX. Eats up a he11 of a lot more gas than I realized. That would be my main concern.

factor in the price of Gas Blake....what your raise is for working in Sherman and see at the end of the day if its worth the wear and tear on your car along with the price of gas..yeah you may be getting a raise/promotion make sure your are still making money at the end of the day..

It would suck to get that promotion and it all goes to the cost of Gas and at the end the day you didnt really net anything

yea... the funny thing is that it is actually not a pay increase at all. It may actually be a minor pay cut.. Crazy because it is a promotion but my commissions wouldn't be based off just my sales and the structure is different..

I just don't know what to do. I may pass on it because of gas.

I am also hoping that if I took it I would only be there a year and then move up in the company some more.

I wouldn't rule it out blake. Is the promotion truly worth it? If you take it, would you have a solid chance at moving up from there fairly quickly (within 12-18 months)? If it is a solid stepping stone, then I would consider it. It might hurt initially, but if the end result gets you even higher up the ladder then it would be worth it.

What would the job entail? I'm guessing it would be more corporate/enterprise sales?

Seriously Blake,

Sometimes you have to take a step back to take 2 forward.. Don't let something like Gas get in the way of you making future opportunities a possibility for yourself and eventually for a family. It's better to take these kinds of risks now while you're young and single.

If it's that much of a burden, see if you could get compensated or reimbursed for part of your gas bill monthly by turning in your mileage at the end of the month.. That could be discussed to even out the "pay cut" that you're factoring in.

You don't want to cancel yourself out for career opportunities bro. By passing this one up, you might be overlooked for ones in the future because you might be viewed as "picky". That's a CLM (Career Limiting Move) for sure.

As far as the drive is concerned, look at it as a positive.. This could possibly give you time to reflect on the day's activities going home or prepare for the day when headed up there.

In this time of mass unemployment, you don't want to turn down a blessing.. This is a a promotion. They come in many different forms. Not all are financial. Sometimes they need to see that someone is willing to sacrifice for the betterment of the company.. That can speak volumes.

^ This. A million times this. I've never heard the CLM term used, but that is 100% true.
