So long sucker!
Different topic... need an opinion from the nerds... Been quite a while since I've built a new machine and I'm slowly but sure buying the pieces. I've got my CPU and just need to think what motherboard brand to go with. I'm an ASUS guy all the way, but they don't seem to make a good enough board (bang for the buck) for my new proc. The proc is the black edition AMD Phenom II X6 3.2Ghz (super sexy). Right now, there's a nice Gigabyte board I'm looking at now. I'm not a huge fan of MSI from back in the day, but I've seen some positive ratings surprisingly. Any other thoughts...?
I'll be proud to represent from the nerd gallery.
My past 4 boards have been ASUS and Gigabyte and they've all lasted till I was ready for them to be swapped.. Great features like being jumperless and a very user friendly BIOS.. Also understand that you're more than likely going to have large fans (gamers) so they put the RAM and cable slots in pretty intuitive spots to give you the most room to work.. I've worked in plenty of cases, where the MB design obviously didn't expect you to EVER stick your hand in there w/out losing skin or a finger.

I Only buy Asus. every other board has failed but my last 2 Asus have been going strong, and I beat on them by OC pretty good.
how is this board not sexy?

thats the crosshair IV formula
it's the best AMD board out right now IMO. get it, I did.

I use that board in my PC at home. Kind of cool to see other guys on here interested in PCs and what not. The Crosshair IV Extreme is better than the formula. It has the ability to run both ATI and nVidia graphics cards.
Yea, I'm leaning towards an ATI card. I'm not needing anything super crazy which is why some of these epic boards may be a bit much for me. WoW doesn't take that much to play, plus I'm canceling that subscription soon anyway. I just want a setup that will last me for 5+ years like my current setup has. I made the bad decision to go intel the last time. Won't make that mistake again. Back to AMD and this proc should blow my mind!
Thanks for the feedback. I think the Gigabyte board I'm looking at will be the one unless I find some crazy awesome deal on the higher end ASUS boards.

Been running a Gigabyte X48 board almost 3 years now overclocked and still rock solid. You probably can't go wrong with either brand in terms of reliability. I've been using the same Asus Radeon card the last 3 years too lol
I'm still rocking my NVidia GeForce GTS 250 OC / Intel 6600 2 core Duo 2.4GHz / 4 GHz DDR2 / Win7 (32bit)
Still running stable, and still get decent frame rates even at higher settings on all the games I play.. I max everything out to see if it bombs, and it never does.. FPS or RPGs. I have a 24" monitor so I'm running natively at 1920x1200 on my games as well..
I don't overclock just cuz I'm scurred and don't want to have to pay for extra cooling.
