Well, I can tell you that upgrading all of the towers is not something gets done overnight.. You have to realize that the majority of our towers are rented from Ericsson. So we rely on other companies to also get things done.

We didn't just want to roll out a half *** 4G network like the other companies. I can tell you that our 4G network is going to be amazing. Now you say that our network is only good for checking ocassional emails.... That is complete BS. 3G is still around 1-2mbps down and I have never had any problems trying to surf the web or watch a youtube video.

All companies rent towers... just a fact.

Just a question though, everyone says the Spring 4G isn't "real 4G"... what does that mean?

They didn't even start upgrading towers until the end of last year... With the amount of contracting companies working with them, it really won't take more than a year to upgrade every single tower in the states.

You don't have any problems watching youtube, etc... I do. It takes forever to even surf driver on my phone.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't dislike AT&T at all, I'm just extremely unhappy with my service and it's ever increasing rates ever since they released the iPhone. And I'm obviously not the only one who isn't happy with their service lately, so to deny the reason is really insane, even if you do work for them still.

And speaking of bad service, my calls have been dropping a lot lately, and at times don't have enough signal to make a call, even in areas that should have full bar. In fact, I don't live in the hills... I should have full bar anywhere I go around here like I used to. And being on a plan based on minutes, I care.

As far as I know none of the current 4G networks that companies are advertising are truly 4G, because they don't meet the minimum 100 Mbit/s requirement set by the International Telecommunication Union. All the current 4G technologies are still not up to the 4G spec but they're branded as 4G.

Edit to this:

4G has kind of lost it's real meaning since everyone's using the term these days and not sticking to the spec. Even the ITU has apparently changed the definition to include the current technology but it's still not close to what they envision 4G to be.

Also just as a discussion point, the technology Sprint uses for 4G (Mobile WiMax) is faster than what AT&T and Verizon have (LTE). At least at the theoretical max speeds. Tmobile's so called 4G is HSPA+, which isn't even considered a 4G technology.

Ever increasing prices? It is called competition.. We compete directly with Verizon as far as pricing goes.. Actually we LOWERED our data plan costs and it has made most customers pretty happy.. Saving $5 a month doesn't sound like a lot but it does add up. I guess it depends on where you are with your phone but I do the majority of my surfing of driver on my iphone 3GS and have no complaints about speed at all.

Don't get me wrong, the people that know me personally know that I am no fan boy but the people that constantly complain come in to my store and bitch and then can never reproduce the problem, mainly because people like to complain.. You never hear about the good. Like I said before we had a huge problem with dropped calls but it has gotten a lot better.

As trivial as it sounds the sim card in your phone is what gives you service. Those can go bad and when they do your service is gonna be crappy. Replace your sim card or your phone and see how it goes. Am I saying you should NEVER drop a call? Ofcourse not, a dropped call is gonna happen but it has gotten better..

anyways... /endrant

My data and messaging packages went up about $15 a month since the iPhone was released.

Service is always excellent at AT&T headquarters too... I wonder why?

Yes, because we have so much money to spend that we all can afford to buy a new phone every year. My sim card was replaced less than a year ago. Are you saying the products you sell are so sh*tty that it needs to be replaced already?

My gripe isn't with you, and not necessarily with the company. Bottom line is I'm paying $100 a month for a phone that drops calls, and data service that hardly works, and doesn't work well. I could switch to Sprint, and pay almost half that for the same quality service.

The network is definitely overloaded with all the iPhone fanboys jumping on, and while things have evened out and aren't getting worse, things aren't going to be getting much better until Verizon comes out with their version, and/or AT&T's network gets upgraded to 4G.

But of course you can keep making excuses and I'll just pick them apart as a really bad sales pitch... (Part of my job was an acting sales trainer for AT&T, and I taught people to never do what you are trying to do in your posts)

First off I don't work at att headquarters, I work in a retail store. Your data plan did go up in price because that was the change from the Edge iphone to the 3G iphone which as you know increases data usage because of the faster network.

Secondly I am not pitching anything to you in a sales fashion.. I keep that at work and do a pretty excellent job. To never do what I do? Please explain on that because I find that rather distasteful.. You are more then welcome to come to my store and read my CFT (Customer Feedback Tool surveys) and view my sales numbers since you know me so well. Also we are on a G35 forum having a friendly debate about cell service. I am not in any fashion speaking for the company as a whole just giving my insight on what I personally see every day considering this is what I do for a living. Cell service a year and a half ago was very poor but it has gotten better.

I am not talking about buying a new phone, I am sure you know that all devices are covered under a one year manufacturer warranty and can be replaced free of charge.. Infact if you are in the DFW area which I assume you are since you are posting here then it will be overnighted to you since the distribution center is in Ft.Worth.

Point is, anywhere AT&T sales or headquarters is located will have excellent service. Do you really think they expect to sell a service if it doesn't work well at their own stores? This is a corporate company out to make money, they aren't dumb.

You better be able to get good numbers if you work in a retail store... people don't step into the ATT cell phone store and talk to sales reps for no reason. They're there because they are interested in a new phone or service. They might need you to help them find a plan that fits them, or maybe need a push to spend that extra money on a better phone. But if someone can't close there, then they're just a joke of a sales person.

You're not pitching, but you're making excuses and defending the company and it's service when it isn't needed. While it isn't a serious concern, you really aren't trained in that field, that's PR's job, not a salesperson's.

And no, I'm not in the DFW area: in case you didn't notice, I said I worked in AT&T's San Ramon headquarters, their CA headquarters where I was a contractor in Marketing/PR/Sales. But if you meant to say this was posted in the DFW section on a national forum and I shouldn't be posting here, wow, that is a pathetic attempt.

BTW, my cell phone service sucks right now, there is no debate about it. This thread was about the EVO 3D, and I was really interested in finding out when it was going to be released.

Because you have my goals figured out? You clearly know how the sales environment works in a att corporate store. Your hostility is ridiculous and to be quite honest I am tired of this argument with you. I am not saying you shouldn't post here but this was a conversation initiated between people that know eachother and know what kind of phones we are using. You have every right to post here but take your hate somewhere else bud.

wow ladies... talk about going off the deep end... i guarantee you, my p3nis is bigger than both of you combined!

Dofu - it's all good man, not sure why you're hating so hard on Platelock here, he was just offering up suggestions. Don't hate a brotha for trying to help a fellow G owner. His DFW comment was only to say if you are here then it's nice from a support standpoint. And no, none of us are saying you can't post in here, it's just not entirely usual for non DFW people to post in here. It definitely happens as I've seen you yourself do it and no one has hated, just not the norm.

Either way, not trying to hate, just trying to throw some sea water on this overheating nuclear plant

Don't mean for you guys to interpret it as hating, but this thread was about the EVO3D, while some started talking about and complaining about service. He came in with info claiming their service is top notch and while I don't hate the man or the company, I feel his view on the issue and excuses are really not helping anything... especially when he tries to argue with someone unhappy with their service!

Knowing the man personally, I can guarantee you he isn't arguing with you. He is defending himself. And yea, to be honest it is coming off as hating.

The downside to text not including the appropriate emotion behind the words...
