Yea, the OC problem with the HR motors can also be a factor in general. Which is why I always had the dealership do my oil changes. I brought the oil, they did the work... JUST in case

Cool, thanks. I think I am looking for something a little different as I explain above. I think there are better oils for protection (your Penzoil Ultra is probably better, and by all accounts one of the best for the VQ35), but I need something that provides more lubrication than your typical oil. The ester base aids in this. Penzoil won't state what is in the Ultra, so for the time being, is no good for me. I didn't want to get super technical as there are already enough threads about oils....

It just sucked down that Mobil 1! I check it every 2 weeks now as a rule.

I got some Mobile 1 10w-30 and will be trying that soon to see if it helps.
I will definitely keep an eye on it, but your Revup is much more notorious for OC than the vq37vhr. Mine has been going through about 1/2 a quart every 3000 miles.

I am sure that is what Chris meant (he had a revup). His fingers work faster than his brain sometimes.

This is the only oil I've used in my [current] G - I've done UOA on every oil change - after autocrosses, track events, highway, city driving.

I change every 3k miles regardless of the period of time it takes (some changes have been 12+ months apart) and the UOA on my sample oil has been "very good".
