ok im reading the law about the laser jammers but doesnt say anything about radar detectors, seems like we can still have them we just can't have the jammers, which my 9500ix can get if i ever wanted to buy and install it to jam the cops lasers, but im not doing that, what im reading radar detectors are still ok since it only detects not interfere ...

No reason to be speeding through the city anyways.

So yes the City of Plano does thank you when you go down to pay that ticket. You break the law, deal with it.. Simple as that.
This.

If you are speeding and get caught, then man up. We have ALL received tickets and we all know that it sucks. By owning a G you are already increasing the probability that you will get pulled over.

I honestly feel like radar jammers/detectors/shifters/scramblers/bamboozlers give some people the idea that they can drive like a bat out of hell and disregard every existing law. I'm not directing that comment at anyone here, but I just don't get that mentality. I'm not saying that I don't speed or that I drive in a fully legal manner at all times - but I also don't consider myself untouchable either. I just think that detectors give a false sense of security.

I have gotten a ticket once for speeding, I got really lucky though cause i was moving pretty quick but the state trooper straight up said he didn't clock me even though i still ended up still getting the ticket but he put me down for 80 in the 70 not sure how he can really prove that.. so I'm trying to have my lawyer get it dismissed or at least dismiss my failure to turn signal ticket (such bs).

Also didn't quite understand if they're talking about jammers and radar detectors or just jammers..
But now you will catch me riding exactly at the speed limit.. so i guess it doesn't really matter too much.

Just for clarification since some have questions.. (or can't read )

As in the content of my first post, for now only the laser law has been passed, the radar law was also on the table back in April but it didn't get enough votes to keep it alive. Radar Jammers have always been illegal. SO if you have a common radar detector like a Escort, BEL, or Valentine your still good, it won't make much of a difference since all police are supposed to be using only laser by the end of this year. The laser detection portion of your radar will still go off to alert you of the ticket you're about to get.

*From the TXDPS officer that was on our conference call regarding the use, sale, possession of said radar/laser jamming items after this law passes...

"If we cannot get an accurate reading or error on the laser gun we will continue to pull over said vehicle as a safety stop. Upon examination of the vehicle we will walk around and look to see if there are any devices mounted to the front of the vehicle. If a device is spotted the driver will have the opportunity to explain the purpose of the device. If the driver decides not to cooperate, or a judgement cannot be made for the purpose of the device, the offense is classified as a CLASS "C" misdemeanor which can allow the impounding of the vehicle where the purpose of the device can be investigated further."

As much as I enjoy a spirited drive every now and then, it's not worth the hassle. I'll continue to drive the allowable limits and save the hot laps for the track

I want more conversation so I will throw this out there.

Many cars now days use laser for backup sensors and cruise assist. The laser interceptor has a function that you can get the computer into a stealth mode. This mode is called PARKING AID and functions to help you know how much distance you have from the object and your vehicle. With the optional PA/JAM switch you will be able to flick it into PA mode permanently or you can use only the stock switch. Flick the stock switch three times and it will lock it into PA mode until you do the sequence again.

This topic was talked about long time ago on laser interceptor forums and radardetector.net. Many have been able to do as the law says and cooperate and explain to the officor what the device is once they find it upon inspection. If you do a stealth install and tuck it in slightly into the grill and it is matte black along with sensors it makes it very hard to spot them. Now the law states you get a class C if you do not cooperate or a judgement can not be made. Before everyone gets all there panties wadded up. I don't plan on running a laser interceptor for my driving habits and not worth the hassle to me personally. Regardless this law will only make it a cat and mouse game with making devices stealthier and having dual/triple purposes many states already ban laser jaming devices and Texas is just hopping on board now. Take for example radar detectors that are totally undetectable by the gun and used in states like Virginia and DC (ie: escort redline, bel sti).

I have laser cruise. Maybe it will jam their guns. Although, it doesn't set off my detector, so maybe it's a different wavelength?

So true...

And tucking the laser jammers makes them practically worthless. They need to be out a bit to truly make a difference and they're not even 100% anyway. A buddy of mine has a friend that's a cop and was screwing with him by tagging him with laser even with his jammers on. Makes it a little more difficult for the cop, but they can still get you. Just a minor detail

And to Blake's point way up about Plano cops. I am not a fan and I am a victim of being pulled over for less than 8 mph over. F*ck Plano and especially their cops! Hate that city
