New Radar/Laser Law in Texas Effective 9/1/11
I must be one of the few that doesn't mind the jammers going away. I get really tired of my V1 going off just because of a jammer. I won't miss them at all and the alerts in the future will actually mean a cop is around and not just someone with a jammer going the other direction.

Not yet, haven't had time because I was detailing a car and it sat in my spot in the garage since Thursday. I hope to get them in soon though. I wanted to do it when I got my rear sway bar so I could only take the exhaust apart once, but that won't get here for awhile.
I'm hoping to get them in by this week, and get the exhaust welded up in a couple places to make sure it's all perfect before the tune.

1. if your V1 laser detection goes off that much, something is wrong with your V1. I daily drive with a V1 all around the metroplex and the laser alert rarely sounds.
2. Cars with a laser jammer/shifter will not set off your V1 unless an actual laser gun sets their jammer off...which means a cop is VERY close and you are likely between the two.
I tried the Escort 9500ix (my father-in-law's) and my V1 side by side, and actually thought they were pretty even overall. It definitely was not worth the money to buy a new radar detector (I got a brand new V1 for $150 by sending in an old one my father-in-law had). They seemed to work about the same as far as detecting police radar. The Escort had a few less false alarms, and the V1 seemed to have slightly better range. Both the false alarms and range were pretty marginal on both sides. The big advantage of the V1 is the arrows. I know it sounds stupid, but it has saved me several times. Now, if I was buying a new radar detector, I would consider the Escort due to some of the technology it offers, but the V1 does the job as well as just about anything out there.
As far as the Plano police, I have lived in Plano for 8+ years and never had an issue, been pulled over, etc. In general, I think it just depends on the cop and not the city. Every city has some cool ones, and some ******.... And my V1 has saved me many times.

I just find it strange that I have driven a modified car with no front plates the entire time I have lived here, and nada. Not even pulled over once. I guess I am lucky (knocks on wood....). I have actually never been pulled over anywhere in DFW. The closest is Melissa. I probably average about 85 MPH on the tollway, GB, and other highways, but I do usually stick to 10-12 over at the most on regular roads.
I was 27 and driving a modified 350Z when I moved here.... I guess being old now may help. Cops definitely like to pick on younger people with nice cars.

Cops love to judge people before pulling them over. So many times I catch cops looking at me through the window and just letting me go.
Also, I don't think the arrows are that great now that I found the "expert" meter the Escort has. It will show you the number and strength of hits it gets. Makes it great to see if there's just on Ka or multiple. Arrows would still be best, but knowing the number I think is more important.

The V1 shows both the number and direction (in a nice big old school display). Don't get me wrong, I like the 9500ix and think it is a great radar detector. But, it is ridiculously expensive at $500, and I just can't justify it when I already have a V1....
these two are definitely the best two on the market, no question there... but it's like the ATI vs nShitia.... a lot comes down to what YOU want...

That's why I got my 9500IX on Amazon FTW a year ago. It's always at least $450, and I found a 20% off coupon, and maybe it was like $412 before the coupon. I even paid for faster shipping on this so it could have been less. I made sure to check, and Escort should warranty them if shipped and sold by Amazon. I haven't had to do any warranty stuff so I don't know for sure though.

Rob, here's the different display settings. Normal, expert, band frequency, and speed. The lines in expert mode move up and down depending on strength. I don't know why they call it expert because I started using it immediately and I'm not an expert.
