BMW CCA - Lone Star Chapter HPDE

I know this place is dead but I though I'd try to get some of you guys out to this event.

Put your cars to work and feel what it is really like to drive at this HPDE event. I went last year around this time and had an absolute blast! it was so much fun that I had to do it again this year. I'm already signed up so I'll be there but I'd like to see some of you out there too!

The price is $295 for two days of high performance driving. This includes class instruction and a knowledgeable coach in your passenger seat teaching you how to drive the track.

While this price may seem steep, you should realize that doing auto-x you only get about 10 minutes total of driving time for around $40 bucks. You also have to sit in a parking lot and for 3 hours or so working the corner. Last year I got a good 90 minutes of drive time in one day! do the math and you will see that its well worth it.

Let me know if you have any questions, I've been talking to the guy who is putting this on. I can forward it to him and get you a response.

awesome man! will be nice to meet some new people. you are going to love it. is your car good to go yet? brake pads and new fluid is a must. also make sure you have no leaks!

not sure if you are new to HPDE or if this is old hat for you.

I haven't been to an HPDE event before. I've been mostly into autox - I picked up a miata for AX a few months ago and am getting back into the racing/car scene. Last time I raced was maybe 6 years ago.

All I've got on the G are the tokico blues, plenum spacer, project mu pads, and Potenza RE760's.

I wanted to take the miata, but it's roll bar isn't tall enough for the convertible safety rules.

I'm going to pick up some motul brake fluid tomorrow - I need to check my pads too; I changed them quite a while back and don't know if there is enough pad material as it stands for two days of tracking.

I wanted to find some performance pads locally - any suggestions? Pepboys supposedly carries EBC red & green, but I've heard mixed reviews on those.

I also need to change the diff oil, trans oil, etc before next weekend just to be on the safe side.

How much tire tread do I need for two days of tracking? My tires aren't bald or cording, but has the usual inner wear and would probably need to be replaced in a few months with normal driving.

well as far as pads go, I love my project mu.. I don't know of any local places that carry them. I'd order online.

tires need some decent tread on them, I'd say at least 3 or 4 /32.
