ANOTHER "First time at the track" thread!

Well, just wanted to post my results after tonight's runs at the New England Dragway in NH, and get some feedback of where I can improve. My car is lightly modded (see sig), and all other relevant information is listed below:
* Temp was in the high 50's
* 1/4 tank of 100 octane fuel
* Tires set at 31 psi (OEM 19's with stock bridgestone's)
* I weigh 195lbs
* The car is AUTOMATIC and I used the shiftronic mode
* No spare tire/tools or anything else unnecessary in the car

My best time was a 14.6... I'm kinda disappointed, but it's because I had trouble getting my tires to stick (everyone did). My reaction times seem pretty good, though... .05s was the best one, with a .08 in there too.

it says Dodge Hemi cuz they sponsor the track. so their logo is EVERYWHERE!

You are not getting off the line good. Your car can easily do 14.5 right now with a good launch.

2.3 60' has a lot of room for improvement. 97mph should be good for a 14.3 on a decent set of street tires and a better 60'. You'll get there in no time!

14.2-14.3s are just a 2.1 60 foot away. My G does 14.6-14.7 with 2.3 60 foots and 14.3-14.4 with 2.1s.

you're not running DA's or slicks, you don't need to do a burnout

aside from that, not bad first time out...get some new tired and you'll be good

If you launch like that, you'll get slow 60 foots. My launch technique is:

Foot on brake
Foot on gas to the floor
Release brake about one second later or so

This usually nets low to mid 2.1 60 foots. Launching off idle nets me mid 2.3s.

Won't hurt anything unless you sit there for an extended period of time (5 seconds plus). The same gas/brake procedure is listed in the G35 FSM as a way to test the stall speed of the torque converter. The FSM specifically says not to brake stall for any longer than 4 or 5 seconds or you can overheat the tranny fluid.

I would not recommend brake stalling on a regular basis just because it is more abusive in general. It's only needed in those situations when you're racing from a dead stop.
