Yeah the shelby started in 05....stock vs stock I think the 03-04's are faster than the 05+shelbys in the 1/4
My bad it was 06....

The 07/08 having a sc 5.4 should beat the sc 4.6...

Came out in 2006 but as a 2007 model.

Weight is the deciding factor really. The 5.4L makes about 100HP more than the 4.6, but the GT500 is a pig at over 3800 pounds without driver in coupe form.

I've driven one though, it is a fun car. A g35 is kinda like a nimble little fighter jet in comparison. But you can't deny having 500HP under your right foot isn't one hell of an invitation to step on it. I felt like a badass driving it around

My only gripe with the Mustang is that the do increase the power, handling and braking every year...but they make it a PIG! The thing is fricking huge now! It's kinda like the 70's when they made the Mustang big and got away from it's small little pony car image.

I like my little 5.0 because it weighs in at just over 3000 pounds. It's not stock though, and i'm actually in the process of picking up an IRS and looking for an 03/04 Cobra driveline to shuffle in there. The 5.0 is nice and all, but it's sick how a pulley and tune can get you over 500HP on the 4.6 s/c and still idle like a stock car.

I'm trying to do something like this

I'd love to hear what that car sounds like at WOT

There was vid kicking around of a Mustang with an Aston Martin V-12 engine under the hood. It sounded badass!

I agree 100%...hp-weight ration makes the cobra's slower than they should be based on the power they are making...hence Vette's/Porshce's.....

LMAO... I actually really like Mustangs. I have a GT500 shirt I wear to Corvette events just to **** them off. It works.
FWIW.. I ran a bone stock "Super Snake" which is supposedly 700hp. He took me through 1st and 2nd, 3rd was fender to fender and 4th I pulled ahead. I call that a dead even race.
.. one BIG difference... he did it while still under a factory warranty!

I have not heard of the Super Snake...heard of the King of the Road which I think had 40 more hp than the normal Shelby's...I know for a fact how conservative those car's come from the factory and a CAI/Exhaust/Tune gains are an easy 40-50 hp...then you swap out the upper/lower pully and make even more power....or put KB 2.4 blower on it and go hunting vettes..LOL!

Coupes are the hardtops. Usually 2-door hardtops are coupes, while 4-door hardtops are sedans....like the G35.

The SUper Snake is Shelby's own creation. Basically you buy a GT500 and they customize it for you.

There are two versions. The 600HP version which carries a full factory warranty and can be installed on coupes and convertibles...and the 725HP version which is unwarrantied and is only installed on the hardtops due to twisting the convertible body up.

its funny because you take what they paid for their vettes and super snake put that in a regular 5.0 and you would blow the doors off of either one......

no offense to you todd but if i am going to spend that kind of money on a car its going to be putting out more then that to the rear wheels....you could have made a car upwards of 1000 hp for the sticker on that before the mods

But that is the classic arguement that you always hear.

I've heard countless times "If i put the price of a new GT500 into my civic, i would blow the doors off it"

True, but at the end of the day, you are still driving a civic and the other guy is in a new GT500. To me, i'd rather have a GT500 than a 1000HP civic that handles on rails.

There is a lot more to a car than how fast it is.
