and you're in a Z? lol... it's a good thing i've been neck and neck with an 04 track Z with a nismo exhaust and intake... and the other guy knew how to drive his Z. Seeing as how my "family sedan" is only 100lbs heavier than your precious Z... if you have an exhaust as your only mod, i can bet you that i'll be right there with you head to head.

cams on a V8 provide quite a bit of power, so that would be expected. A stock mustang GT, or one with an exhaust or intake, is a different story.
I dont see how you could say that i dont stand a chance against a mustang GT but i stand a chance against an evo... I've driven both cars, plenty of times and if you know how to drive the evo (specifically launch it), it will obliterate the rustang.
FWIW, i'm talking about a drag. If you get me on an open freeway with a mustang GT, i'll redline 3rd and 4th and be looking at that american plastic car in my rearview.

The Mustang should beat the G by a few cars. They have similar specs but the Mustang is easier to drive. Solid axle > IRS when it comes to drag racing. The mustang is way cheaper to make power on too. 93 octane tune alone gets ~25 whp. This is coming from the owner of a Mustang, G35 6mt and Camaro SS... so im not biased.

I completely agree on the solid rear axle being easier to launch. I couldn't believe how easy launching my brother's 2008 Mustang GT is, even with inferior tires. I could launch it with consistency 9 out of 10 times. And its definitely cheaper to make power...way cheaper and easier.
A 93 octane tune could probably gain as much as 20 rwhp. It's believable considering that its a V8 waiting to be unleashed from it's cage.
Anyhow, the Mustang GT lives at the 1/4 mile. That's where it really belongs. But people underestimate what a properly driven G35 6MT can do at the 1/4 mile. And those 5AT's with a few drivetrain upgrades can get the job done just as well. (The new 7AT is a whole difference beast).
What year Mustang did you own? AT or MT?
