My trip to Cecil County, came away with a new PB

Hey guys,

I know I posted some of the photos and videos in the 1/4mi times thread, but I have some more videos from that night.

I went to a Grudge Racing event at Cecil County on 11/19. Dsskyline was there, and it was great to meet him. He has a truly impressive N/A G35. I also met up with a friend that drives an 06 AWD TBSS, he ran a 12.76@105.xx...

Here's a pic of my dirty bitch:

Here's a couple pics of my time slips, I didn't include my first run which was a 15.0x@99.15, more on that later.

I had some decent times, though I was shooting for a 13.9x.

My power mods are 1/2" spacer, cat-back, smoothed lower plenum, and a z-tube/revup airbox combo ( <-- though I don't they they do dick). I wanted to go with the Hypertech tune installed, but they gave up on my calibration, so I was on my own! I had a sinking feeling I wouldn't break the 14.0 mark without the programmer. I want to either get a tune or install the Transgo VB kit before I do another Test and Tune, but we'll see if I can get either in before the end of the season.

Run-1:
My first run was terrible, I didn't heat up my tires, or take out any psi, and I ran a 15.0x@99.15. I spun through first and into second, and that didn't do me any favors. The Honda I was racing was gone by the time I got traction. I didn't want to burn my tires b/c they are brand new, but I took the hit the rest of the night to hunt for some better ETs.

Run-2:
The second run was a 14.156@99.57. I ran a turbo Cobalt and beat him, but he was running me down. His trap was high for a stock turbo SS, so he either got a few mph of ghost trap (from spinning), or he was lightly modded. He was about 2 cars behind at the end. I was still pretty disappointed with the 14.156 because that was more or less the same as my old PB. In retrospect, I was shifting into 4th early, and I was launching from a low rpm.

Run-3:
The next run was a 14.006@100.39, which was my best ET of the night. Everything went okay, and I took Dsskyline's advice and held 3rd as long as possible before I had to shift into 4th. I also got my quickest 1/8mi time of the night with a 9.094@78.89. I'm unsure what rpm I launched from, but I wasn't really paying any attention to that until the last run of the night, probably left at like 1500rpm.

Run-4:
This run went well too, I ran a 14.085@100.69, my highest trap of the night. My launch was slower, and, again, I wasn't paying attention to my launch rpm, but I tried to hold 3rd as long as possible before hitting 4th. I knew the car had a 13.9 in it, but the key would be launching at the right rpm, and putting everything together.

Run-5:
I was absolutely crushed after this run. I went a 14.017@100.11 even though I smacked into the limiter going from 3rd to 4th. I shifted a split second too late and heard the car hit the cutoff a few times before finally getting into 4th. Had I not made that mistake, I think that run would have been my best shot at a 13.9x. I was slightly slower through the 1/8th than the 14.006 run, but I trapped 79.15 vs. 78.89. I also launched at around 1800, and after seeing what I ran with my mistake, I might've just clinched a 13.9x had I done everything right. At least I now know that running third to fuel cut won't get me over the line, I have to shift into 4th If I could raise my redline, I'd have gotten that 13.9 by now!

I raced Dsskyline, and of course he walked the hell out of me and cut a better reaction time His car inspires me to keep modding mine, haha.

Overall, it was a fun night. There was a stock non-HR, DE touring package wheels, 350z running high 13s@102.xx. He was a 6-speed. There was some sort of new gen. Eclipse club there too, and the quickest ones were running 14.4's. The VW crowd was also there and struggling to get into the 15s, and my favorite of the night, a stock looking MS3, ran a 15.2@92 with his i <3 haters sticker

The track didn't have the best prep, and one of the lanes was closed, so besides the Honda on my first run, the Cobalt, and Dsskyline I didn't get to run anyone head to head. There was a diesel Ram cutting 14.3s that wanted to get a pass in, but no luck in setting that up

What I'll do next time:
-Always heat up tires
-Launch at a higher rpm
-Shift into 4th as late as possible
-Cross fingers for a 13.9x!

Who said racing autos was easy?!

Did you change your diff?

I can stay in 3rd for the 1/4 mile :O

Also I thought heating up street tires are bad.

Nope, stock diff., I just think it's my tires. They might have a tick less circumference than the stock 17s.

As for heating up street tires, it was cooler out, and on the first run I quickly spun the dust off, but that wasn't enough. I went through the water box and burned em on the rest of the runs, and that did the trick. I think it's just b/c the tires were sorta cold due to the temps.

About half a tank at the end of the night, not too much extra. I took out my matts, spare, and the bottom bench on the rear seat, so about ~ 50-60lbs out of the car?

Damn, so close. Nice runs and times. You should consider the 3.5 diff and Technosquare ECU flash.

Sounds like you guys all went very fast today with the -1000' DA's. I am contemplating going next saturday, but I hate the drive there with a passion.

I think I will come, but the smallest tires I have for the front are 285's. That is some serious rolling resistance. On top of that I don't have any slicks or DR's any more. I guess I can run the R888's at first and maybe borrow some sticky tires if I can't find traction. I haven't made a single pass this year lol. You ran 107???? Holy crap, I wonder if I could have gone 109 today? Looks to be even colder and drier next weekend. Maybe -1500'? Let us pray .

Those tires should be good enough hopefully the track was good like last yr. Everyone improved.

C5vette improved to 12.4 from a 12.6 previous pb

Aj brother in his max 14.3 from a 14.7 previous pb

Aj on giggle 12.05 from a 12.5 previous pb

Hey probably could of went 109 and into the 12's today. I probably could of with weight reduction I didn't want to bother with the seat. Aj was trapping 112.

**** damn it, I had a bunch of calcium deposits on my paint from my parking garage. I already scheduled the detail. Now I regret that decision completely. I have a grad school test in Baltimore next Saturday, I'll come as soon as that gets out, hope the timing works.

With calcium deposits:

After detail:

It needed a good cleaning.
