Drag wheel and tire setup?
Drag wheel and tire setup?
What is everyone running for a front skinny set up that will clear Brembo's? I already have a set of 15x8 rears, I swap to non Brembo breaks for the track. I am thinking about a set of 17x4.5 fronts but I dont know what back spacing and offset. Does anyone have any first hand knowlage on this?
The overall consensus is that if you want to run skinnies or a 'real' drag rim setup you ditch the brembos. Personally I don't see the benefit of skinnies on a G. I'm doing just fine with 16" wheels clearing my rear brembos and stock wheels up front. Alternatively you might consider finding some track tires that will fit over a pair of spares.
I have found a set up that works finialy after a lot of searching 17x4.5 2.25 backspacing. No offence but there is always benefits of running skinny's up front less weight and rolling resistance. Rear wise I am swapping over from 17" cobra wheels with Toyo TQ drag radials, they are nice for playing on the street but I can not get them to dead hook with spray at the track. I am swapping to a 15x8 rear with ET Streets for the new setup.

Also I didn't imply skinnies did nothing I just don't think I've ever met a G driver consistent/fast enough to see any benefit above just pumping stock tires to 40+psi and more practice. Post results of the change when you have them.
If you read my first post I swap out my rear Brembo's for the drag strip. It will be a while motor is out of the car going to machine. Spray isn't doing it for me anymore neither is a 12.1 1/4. Sense I sold my mustang off I miss mid 5 sec 1/8 mile runs. The car will never be consistent with a 6 speed but it is going to be more of an all around daily driver that I play with at the track when I am home and should keep me satisfied until I break down and build another race car.
9:1 Arias pistons, Eagle rods, Fully worked heads 1mm over size valves BC 272 cams, ACL bearings, ARP bolts L19 head studs. Custom single turbo set up using a PT6768 turbo. My best 60 ft on DR's was a 1.8.
