2nd gear launch

Hey, Right now Im sitting at about 600whp
Im tuned with Haltech to run about 400whp in gears 1-2
I find that first gear is soooo short, its crazy.

I have DSS 5.9 Axels, Stock 3.5 Diff and VLSD.
A 6 puck Ceramic clutch.
Mickey Thompson ET Street II

I do my burnouts in 2nd gear.

Can I launch in 2nd? if so, if anything would "Give" what would it be first?
I ask because I have an extra Twin Disk Clutch, an Extra 3.3 LSD Diff sitting around. So if its one of those 2 things then Id be happy with risking that.

Im asking because Im sad Im running 13.5@118mph lol. with 2.7 60"

Did you let off the throttle on that run? The trap seems low for that kind of power.

No, but I am a VERY slow Shifter...

I blew up my Audi S4 3 years ago trying to speed shift.... lets just say that engine could rev to 20,000rpm haha went from 4th to 3rd.

Also the track I went to is the SHITTIEST track in existance. There is tonnes of bumps in the lanes, so when I went over a bump, and unweighted the wheels, they would spin out in 3-4-5

Ok.

Soooooo
2nd gear launches killed my 600wtq rated Clutch in 3 runs haha.
Now it Slips under boost.
Thankfully Bully Clutch is local and gives me great deals so they will rebuild my clutch for $100

But the twin disk is going in haha.

I find shifting fast from 1-2, and a little slower from 2-3 so the car doesn't bog and everything after that is a quick shift. And since you killed the clutch you found the weak spot :-)

Trust me with turbos gt30xx and up just shift clean and led the boost take care of the rest.
I'm using an exedy twin disk setup. Might need a triple or quad but I won't know until later this week after I get retuned.

Here is a 6 puck with less then 8000km on it.
its rated for 600wtq, I was making 546wtq.

Thankfully, I can get it rebuilt locally same day, and have clamp load increased for less then $150.

2.7 60'?

Good golly that's awful. Most people are getting 2.0 stock.

So what's your issue? Spinning or bogging or lag?

If it's spinning, try launching at a lower rpm.

Bog, higher rpm

Lag, higher rpm

I'd think ET street would be MORE than enough. There are people running 9 second 1/4 miles at 140+ mph on those tires.

And yes, when you launch hard and get traction, something is going to break.

It was a suspension problem, I was running very stiff JIC Magic FLTA2's

Best time was 11.6@129 with a 2.5 60ft
