My g35 vs mustang gt both 2005

Make sure there is plenty of space or a guardrail between the two of you so he doesn't get loose and blow face first into your side or swing into your lane and you plowing into him. Mustangs go sideways easy, especially if he bangs 2nd hard on junk tires and isn't experienced enough to know how to handle it.

2005 G35 0-60 5.5 sec. 1/4mi 13.9
2005 Mustang GT 0-60 5.3 sec. 1/4mi 13.9
I'm not sure why you guys don't consider the G fast. This would absolutely be a drivers race. No one would be embarrassed. There are a number of cars that are considered "fast" and are actually slower than the G. It does feel slow because of the weight, but let's not be fooled.

OP, if your friend doesnt misshift he will win. You are lucky he is stock too, your best chance of ever beating his is hoping he stays stock and misshifts. Cams, longtube headers, cai and tune would put him in the 340 whp range. You are probably in the 270 whp range with your mods.

I don't consider the "G" to be slow by any means. Problem number one is he has an automatic with bolt ons. The auto's on the line aren't that quick (I know because I've had one). Two, by the time his "G" gets going the Mustang will be already pulling hard, even if he uses the manumatic he's going to have trouble not to mention the autos are a few horses down versus the 6mt's. The only real way for him to get his answer is take it to the track and let the chips fall where they may.

I don't mean power to weight ratio, just that some cars when heavy feel slower vs a lighter car even tho the heavier car could be faster. For instance an MS3 actually feels faster than the G when you're in it, but actually carries a slower 0-60.

Zeroto60times has the '05 GT 6MT at 5.0 & 13.3 in the quarter. GDirty's figures for the G is probably 6MT. 5 AT is probably closer to 6.0 and 14.5
Bolt ons and a tune isn't enough to make up a 1 second gap.
Again all of these posts are talk, speculation and estimations. OP and his buddy running them at a track will be the only way to know for sure.
OP, don't race on the streets, make sure you go to a track.

Probably more like 250-260 WHP realistically with his mods.... and that's if he's lucky. Bone stock, that gen put down anywhere from 225 to 245 HP to the wheels depending on the dyno type and testing conditions. Intake and exhaust isn't going to net you THAT much on that VQ35DE.

I have done this very race here ( 03 coupe 6mt , hfc , full exhaust , jwt pop charger , plenum spacer , upgraded clutch & flywheel , experienced driver & I weigh 265 ) vs 07 gt , mt exhaust & k&n .. I got him by half a car 2 of 4 races other 2 were almost dead even . If you're auto odds are against you .
