thing is the make and model of the car doesn't really matter you can make anything fast just ask the guys with the 10 second minivans. the only way to know if one is faster than the other is to actually fuking race. but still:

Change your car wheels to lightweight 18 or 17' at least 12-134lbs per wheel and you see your car improvement still 5 speed aut. sucks without turbo or nitro

QUOTE=Gwhipdip;6904062]So my friend is really confidant he can beat my car in a race in a quarter mile.

He has a stock 2005 mustang gt MT

300 hp /320 torque

Vs my 2005 g35 de coupe AT with bolt ons

I have a MD 5/16 plenum spacer/borla dual exhaust/ fast intentions hfc's/ takeda short ram intake

I know stock he'll take me but would I have a change with the mods I listed he want to bet me 100 bucks lol[/QUOTE]

Stock Mustang GT with 300hp can do 1/4 mile_13.7 with trapspeed some 100-102mph.
It is all about driver and 60feet is that makes sure who is the winner.

I still would lean towards the mustang winning. Not bagging on you or your G just speaking from someone who has experience with both cars.

When I bought my latest G last summer, I chose it over a '11 5.0 because of the styling & overall feel and handling....not over how fast one was compared to the other.

If you go FI, beef up your tranny and install a stall converter, then I would bet on your G.

All this is "on paper" talk, if you want to know for sure, go to a track & run against your buddy.

Post the times & best of luck.

Stock 05 Mustand GT MT can do 0-60=5.0 and 1/4 mi 13.7 according to car and driver in 2005.

I'm not sure why you guys don't consider the G fast. This would absolutely be a drivers race. No one would be embarrassed. There are a number of cars that are considered "fast" and are actually slower than the G. It does feel slow because of the weight, but let's not be fooled.

Well what was the outcome. Just race him at the track for no money at first and see how you do. I almost beat a modded 350Z (not sure what he had on the car we were put up side by side at a drag strip) in my old 3G eclipse V6 (5spd) with only CAI, Stage 2 clutch, GReddy catback, eitbach pro kit suspension, 19" rims and what not. This car was my DD at the time and I was just looking to have some fun in it at a Drag strip hosting a cool import event. I have raced lots of cars and have a class A license and have driven pretty much all kinds of vehicles and that definitely helped. Just being a great driver and racer I almost beat this 350Z that was a lot faster than my car. Yes I was racing on 19's but it was just for fun, and I didn't have any other rims to use at the time. He pulled up to me after the race and he goes "Are you running NOS?" I told him NO lol. Pushing the car to the limits (without damaging it) you will be surprised what cars you can beat just being a really good driver. That feel though when you beat a much faster car in a race lol. Anyhow... just be careful out there and don't do anything you cant handle. Safety first.
