04' g35 coupe 5at vs. 05' stang GT 5spd

Well my friend ( 05' gt ) and I were going down the 408 last night. He just got his Bassani Exhaust and he kept flying by me tryin to run me... So i finally gave in and put it in MM and dropped to 3rd at 60mph.. He did the same and proceeded to do the 3 honk.

Right off the third honk I tried to jump, but he also did the same. We were dead even till about 100mph as he slowly pulled.. by 120 his rear bumper was a few feet of my front.

race 2
40 mph roll
same dead even till about 100, then he pulled.. I was very impressed with my car because the bassani website claimed the 05 gt with this exhaust was 27whp, and his car is 272whp stock.

Makes me wanna keep my auto. forever lol

The 05 GT's tend to give me better runs... but even still... just an exhaust isnt gonna give you 27 WHEEL hp, unless it has one of those cool spinner exhaust tips.

I'm sorry, but a well driven 2005 MGT with 5 spd manual will
walk on a G35 auto or manual.
They'll walk on a 350Z manual too.

Seen several at the track and they are trapping about 2-3 mph faster
than G35 manuals with .2-.3 second faster ET's.
I've had one pull (from a roll) on my Stage 1 (reflash) Legacy GT too which runs
13.6's @ 100+ mph

I agree too, there is NO way the car gets 27 hp to the wheels from
an exhaust only. Nor with an intake and exhaust.

The guy the poster raced must have sucked at shifting.

ya hes my friend he is alright at shifting... i know they trap more mph in the 1/4.. I dont really care if it was john force behind the wheel at a 40-60 roll i dont think the outcome would of been much differnt.. Would be a completly differnt story from a dig.

Hey thanks for letting me know! Btw I love Legacy GT's. I almost picked up the Spec-B but changed my mind at the last minute and got the G.

Love hate (the stang that is)

I just bought my 2005 G35c 6MT last saturday. Love the car. I test drove an 05 Mustang GT the same day and I have to say the GT is a quicker car. That car pulls a lot harder than ours in 1st and 2nd gear. It seemed to loose some pull in 3rd. The thing that turned me off about the stang was the cheap interior. Looked like ford put about 10 bucks into the plastic that makes up the dashboard in that car. Fun car to play with but that's about it. Other cars i considered and drove: Audi S4, STI, IS 350. The G coupe won me over, no contest.

Last weekend I was coming home from my softball game and I got behind an 05 GT 5MT. He had seen me lay into it a little from the light and he came zipping by me and cut me off as we entered the highway entrance ramp. I stayed back about 3 cars as we went about 45mph through the sweeper ramp. I left it in 2nd and it sounded like he was doing the same because the GT's roar was quite loud. The second the sweeper merged to the highway we both nailed it. Almost at the same time, we hit 3rd. To my surprise, I was on his tail and from what I could discern, he wasn't pulling away. I ran up through about 95mph and let off. He kept going a bit longer and we both exited at the same spot. He slowed down to make a right and as I passed him, he looked over with silly smirk like "what was that behind me?......a g35 sedan!?". I'll let him believe that he couldn't walk my G35 sedan, but I know for a fact that if we had run from a stop he would have put at least 2-3 cars on me. The same goes for if we would have continued on past 100mph.

There have been a couple stock 05 GT 5MTs at my track and they're bests are 13.8-13.9@99-100mph. With some simple bolt-ons, the GT is easily a low 13-high 12 second car. I like them.

AWD's usually get very good times, but that's no indication on how well they'll do from a roll. AWD cars usually have to contend with weight and higher drivetrain loss than a regular FWD or RWD configuration. Basically, using your trap, et is not a good comparision due to you probably getting a 1.8 60', which is impossible for a G35 on stock tires, but that doesn't mean you'll beat one from a roll. I've taught many of modded WRX owner this lesson.

You're preaching to the choir. Remember, I AM an AWD car owner.
Trap speeds are the best indication of how well a car will do from a roll.

And though a MGT has similiar ET's as my Stage 1 LGT, they have
trap speeds a mph or so faster. That's indicative of them "pulling away"
from me as speeds climb. But I would surely (and do) get them off the line.

Edit: Well...I see the admin have "disabled" signatures.

I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT
and a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan

05 Mustang GT's are slow and whoever said they could run high 12's is dead wrong...Stock 05 GT's could never reach high 12's...My last car was a 2000 Mustang Saleen so I am very familiar with mustangs... They are very heavy which is there down fall but a 05 Stang will take any stock G35 Auto..
