Manual transmission whine when cold

Few people posted about whining 6MT when cold. Dealer had my G overnight to duplicate the noise and traced it to driveshaft. They will replace it (car has <2 months of warranty left), will be couple of weeks until part gets here from Japan.
Service rep said that "nothing will fail", it is simply comfort issue. I hope new driveshaft will fix the problem.

It's coming from under the car, not from engine bay. It was always there on cold mornings(I got G 2 years ago). Goes away after 10 minutes of driving, doesn't change with rpm and can be described as combination of whining and howling.

simliar sounds have been posted mulitple times, and many got new manual transmissions for it. I'm getting a new tranny. clutch, and flywheel installed this friday because of that sound all under warranty. infiniti doens't know for sure if that'll fix it, but i complained enough to the point where they are.

I've been hearing that whine for the past 3 weeks. I hear it even after the car is warmed...I took it to the dealer to check it out and got the "thats normal speech." WTF?! Car has 66k miles on it and Im not sure if the tranny/diff fluid has been changed. Im going to have the fluid changed soon...I hope it stops the whine.

i just got a call from my dealership, and they traced it to the rear diff. So, my tranny will not get repalced. damnit!

i had the same issue with mine. I took it to the dealer, and they said it was my throwout bearing and clutch making the noise.... Heh. So i just ordered a clutchmasters stage 2 clutch and aluminum flywheel and had them put it in there and replace the bearing. Works fine now, but MAN that clutch grabs quick!
