Not the clock spring, there's a steering wheel angle position sensor that mounted behind the clock spring. If you remove the sensor then it will need to be reprogrammed. I've read with bad alignment, the sensor sees the steering wheel always at the wrong position then it would throw the SLIP and VDC lights off. We need the CONSULT-II tool from Nissan to reprogram that sensor. The procedure is very simple but I don't have any hook up with that kind of tool.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i am having this same problem. My question is tho, instead of going to the dealer to have the sensor reset, is it possible for Uprev to clear this? I was planning on taking my car to get tuned tomorrow and if they can take this out it would save me that trip to the stealership

I only went to them cuz my boy works there and he told me they could do the reset no problem. Well my vdc, and slip light came on after 30 seconds of driving and the brakes acted like they wanted to lock up and all of this happened right after we were changing out headers and we disconnected the steering from the knuckle and then he decided to spin the wheel and kept spinning, well lesson learned dont spin the wheel when its unhooked unless you want to buy a new clock spring and pay for someone to reset your steering angle sensor.

You had to buy a new clockspring because he spun it and it was disconnected from the rack?

reviving an old thread, but my 03 G35 sometimes acts weird when its running and i take a right turn. It feels like a steering "lock" for a second or so then it goes back to normal. All the suspension have been checked and the steering box and fluid. No warning lights go on the dash when it does it. Might it be possible that it is the steering postion sensor? like having a bit of misalignment in it?

what do you think?

Same problem here on my 06 after picking it up from the dealer for a replacing a bad tire. Both slip and VDC light came on, steering wheel went crooked, then the ABS light came on. Called them, they said, "oh, they must've forgot to reset that" now I have to take it back in. I understand I will not be charged because they failed to do it the 1st time. Hope that takes care of the issue as it is steering really weird.

The lights are gone now.

Did dealer replaced any parts? or just a simple reset with CONSULT II that fixed the lights?
