Transmission filter

Does the G auto have a transmission filter that needs to be changes during a flush or drain/fill. I remember having this chnaged in other cars in the past, but I can't find a part for it online and Nissan says it doesn't need one.

there is a metal screen that acts as a filter. the only time it needs replacement is if it tears/rips. if you have the pan dropped then it would not hurt to clean the mesh off with brake parts cleaner.

Okay, since we do not have a real filter other than a screen, would it hurt to add an inline trans filter.

A proper large paper oil filter can only extend the life assuming you replace it frequently to avoid back pressure.

Jatco transmission feed rear planetary from the cooler return line then some drains into pan so maintaining pressure is critical, avoid small tiny inline filters, a remote oil filter kit can be adapted easily.

Remember these 5AT cost ~~ $4-$5k to replace after 70k.

Thanks, I think I'll stick with regular maintenance, at least until the warranty runs out.

+1, no filter, but ONLY USE NISSAN MATIC J FLUID!!! If you don't, and the dealer finds out, your transmission warranty will be OTD.
