Clutch is burned out!!! Just bought g coupe with 28k miles!!

So im driving last ngiht and slowly i start to feel the clutch losing all grip. It starts to smell and the next thing i know it doesnt go into gear at all. So I called roadside and they picked it up and brought it to the dealer. I just bought this car with about 28k miles on it. I have driven it 800 miles in the two weeks ive had it. Any idea why it would burn out with so little miles on it? I mean it should be covered under warranty but how hard can you drive these cars?

any fool can kill a clutch in that time... but i'm surprised that u couldn't even get it into gear. sounds like your slave cylinder might be toast as well. sorry to hear about your problems. this is the very reason why used manual cars scare the bejeezus out of me.

You bought a used car as-is, did you have a PPI done before you purchased it. There's also no reason why the dealer should cover this under warranty.

I have 50K on mine with no problems AT ALL. Now I can count on one hand the number of times I have done a standing start launch and still be able to give you the UT hand sign. It's all in how it's treated. If you are going to be a drag car, you need a drag clutch. This car was not made to do "standing start sprints" all day. 28000 miles is plenty time to burn one up. Heck 800 mile is enough if you slip it a lot.

An sorry, but you're SOL on getting it fixed under warranty.

Actually, they towed my car for free, gave me a loaner (very nice), replaced the clutch and flywheel, and gave me an infiniti pen. Alllll under warranty

I'm glad to hear that it all worked out for you. Hopefully this clutch will last a little longer.

You sir, have found a diamond of a dealer in the vast dessert of utter despair.

Hold on to it closely.

Wow...You should also play the lottery. I don't think that I've ever heard of a dealer replacing a clutch on a used car.. This is one instance where I'm pleased to be wrong.
