For 5AT G35 Owners (transmission question)

I noticed this on my G 5AT and wondering is it normal or just my car.

For example if I put my car from Neutral to Drive but don't have my foot in the brake I notice that the car shifts into gear (takes about a second ) and then starts moving not instantly as my older car with AT used to do.

The other test is if i shift from Neutral to Drive with the foot on brake and try to start driving almost immediately the car jerks as it is not fully in gear and then starts moving. If you wait for a second and then drive off then no problem.

So any of the guys see the same thing or its just me. Please let me know what you see
Thanks

That seems to be quite normal. Mine does exactly the same, as did my Sedan.
I put it down to a very soft engagement which seems to happen in 2 stages. As you've said, this engagement takes a second or so, and if you press the gas too soon, it will cause the tranny to engage harshly.
No worries.

Same as mine. Most likely their all alike. A bit of a pain in the butt, just wait a second an then go.

I have same problem. I just noticed this after 30k. Guess it must have been doing it all along. Taking it to shop for assortment of small problems. I don't care much for the bucking during engagement. Will post dealers response to problem.

some have reported more responsive shifting on the AT with grounding gear - i've been meaning to get it for some time - just been so busy with audio crap lately - still have to get around to ordering mine - anytime now...

My G does it also.. My previous car was a T-bird AT it also did it, so I always thought it was normal.
