shifter can be pulled out of gear???

Hi All,
(this may be a dumb question) I have an 03 6MT and when I am coasting you can tap the shifter out of gear (ex. from 3rd to neutral). I just happened to accidently do it one day and it is something that can be done.
Is this normal???? The car does not slip out of gear on its own but I can move the shifter to neutral from a gear. I don't know if that is an emergency feature or the car is messed up.

Please share your wisdome!!
Thanks!

you'll prob notice that if under power (i.e. accelerating in 3rd gear) it is hard or almost impossible to pop it out of gear. But if you pull on the shifter right as you take your foot off the gas it will popout of gear very easily. This is completely normal.

This must be your fist manual? You can also put it into gear if you're good. There is a spot where you can slip in and out of gear. But like previously stated, it's probably best not to.
