Gears n Pulleys - Gurus Enter Please!!

Looking to get some pulleys and gears done to the G (05-6mt-coupe). Any advise? what to expect? what not to do? mileage? 4.0X vs 3.9 vs 3.7? any and all help will be appreciated. Also if someone would recommend a shop in the Sacramento area...

Thanks for the time

I'm no guru - but considering you have MT which is 3.5 FD, it's pointless to go 3.7 - so that narrows it down to 2... 4.0+ can be found in several OEM Nissans (and possibly Infiniti?) so you can get reasonably priced... 3.9 is after market and is much more expensive... gas mileage will suffer for 2 reasons, rmp will be 300-500 higher (depending on what you use) and your right foot will LOVE doing it!

As far as pulleys – it’s one of the most controversial mods we have as an option – you will not get an absolute on that one.

Ahh thats what i gathered from reading... prolly end up getting the 4.08 or whatever from nissan (frontier stock part? - anyone know the part number?)

As far as pulleys... lets hear em: advantages vs disadvantages... and if you are aware of a thread which talks about them in detail .. lemme have it!

More interested in people who have had pulleys in their cars... what do you think? should i do all 3? just one? which one? what kinda gains can i expect?

more importantly does anyone have 4.08 and pulleys ?

I went with the 3.7 fg set and UR stock size lightweight pulleys.

If I could do it again, I would get the 3.9 fg. Central20 is reasonably priced, much cheaper than the nismo 3.9.

all the info is out here... its' been discussed a bunch... people probably won't re-hash what has been gone over many times... search for FD and under drive pulleys (or UP), you’ll find sh!tloads... look on my350Z.com too..
