5AT gear ratio options?
Does anyone know if these Nissan 4.08 gears will bolt up to a 5AT 3.3 diff.. or do I need to have a 6MT diff in order to swap the gears out??
And, what is needed to swap a diff or gears from a 350z, assuming they're interchangeable.. Thanks!

The pumkins are the same, although there are some things you need to know inorder to make the change. Check out the link below

^Good info, but a lot of mixed information. Still not sure if different gears (3.7, 3.9, 4.08) will bolt right up to a 5AT 3.3 pumpkin without additional parts..
The Central 20 3.9 gears specifically states that it won't bolt up to a 5AT diff.

I wish someone with a 2003 sedan would install some 3.5 to 3.7 gears to see if the CC still works. I could have sworn there were at least two accounts of 2003-2004 5AT sedans running 3.54 gears and the CC wouldn't work above ~72mph. I believe the issue was the CC was set to read rpm vs the wheel sensor speed. With the deeper gears, the rpms were higher in relation to wheel sensors therefore the ECU thought you were trying to set the CC at too high a speed. I believe the preset limit for CC is approximately 88mph. Apparently this isn't an issue with the 04.5+ cars unless OCG35 is setting the CC at only 60mph.

I have a Quaife Diff with 3.5 gears from a 6mt. They work great. The stock pinion gear for the AT is thicker than the MT. That is the only difference and that's why you can't just switch the gears. If you want to use the gears from an MT, you need to take the diff from a VLSD MT and you can use any of the gears that are made for the MT. (Or you can get a Quaife like I did)
Oh, and the CC still works fine.

I just did a search and sure enough, there at least three accounts of 03/04 sedans and one coupe having CC issues after installing the 3.5 gears. The CC will work to about 72mph and if you try to accelerate with it on and go over 72mph, it will turn off and won't come back on until you restart the car.
