Re: Tranny Programming 5AT

I finally got the dealership to update the TCM. I had to pay
$100 to get it done, as they said no error codes had been
"thrown" by the TCU. I can't tell much of a difference since
the 5AT was shifting very well with Gordgee's grounding kit.

03 5AT Sedan, sunroof, splashguards, HKS muffler,
14 wire Grounding kit, Z Duct, Stillen HF/AB
Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals,
Stillen sway bars S/H. Sport Tuned Suspension

Thread from the dead....

Does anyone have an electronic copy of their TCM update printout so that I can show it to my clueless dealer?

Dave:

If you go in, and tell the service advisor that your tranny shifts slower than what you believe it should, or if it shifts 'oddly' or with a 'shudder' at moderate speed, they should be able to hook it up and read your current version. They will then look for any updates, and flash it to the latest one to see if it fixes your 'issue'.

I had the reflash done (sorry, I couldn't find the print-out), and to be honest, I couldn't feel any difference.

Been there done that. They looked like a deer in headlights when I gave them the TCM update number. They said they've never heard of such a thing. They gave me the BS line of, "well the loaners shift harder because they're driven harder.". I drive my car pretty dang hard

I have a 2003 5 AT 350 Z. Will the updated tcm program work in my car? Some of my down shifts in the auto mode are terrible. At 100 km if you floor it it does down shift it stays in 5th gear. My MM shifts are quick. It hangs alittle from 3rd to 4th. Upgraded the VB (stillen) Runs the 1/4 in 13.0. Lots of mods to car, but have not done the grounding wires.

Question

Is this TCU program only for the 2003 models?

I was just wondering if this TCU program upgrade can be applied to the 2005 5at coupes???

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

So has anyone developed an aftermarket flash for the TCM yet? Is there a way to alter shift points, line pressure, and the lockup algorithm?

I think the only company that has a chance right now is UPREV. I just got their CIPHER product and it is one amazing tool. It supposedly will in the future be able to flash the ECU over the CAN bus. It can do cool things like honk the horn, flash lights, open trunk, lock doors etc. using your carPC or laptop hooked to the OBD port. Of course it can also monitor A/F and set timing and idle and so forth, just like Nissan's consult tool. The group buy just ended in Dec.

As it stands now it can read/write to ECU/ABS/BCM computers. Nothing for TCM but I think they are reverse engineering everything so it's amazing they have so much worked out already. I think I remember reading that they needed a 5AT to play with. Anyway you might want to do a search for "Cipher" on this board and at my350z.

I've managed to get the ROM image off of a 2006 350Z TCM and identified the processor. If the demand is there I'll do it.

Hi

That would be great. I had no idea anyone has done it. I think that you would find quite a few people on the market, not to mention the gratitude...

^^^ what he said. I would be interested in that upgrade as the one I recently got was not the most effective. Thank you.
