Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
InfinitiTech,
How does Infiniti update the TCU? Do they actually access
the unit it'self, or is it updated through a port? The reason I
ask is that I have a Hyperground wire attached to both the
ECU and the TCU units. I am afraid if I have Infiniti update
the code and they see my wires, they will go nuts about
the wires and say "you have now voided your warranty!".
I can always remove those wires if they are going to actually
look at the ECU/TCU
Thanks in advance!

Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
My resource tech from Infiniti says that when they plug in, they will look at the version you have currently flashed on your TCU. They can upgrade with the newer version if necessary.
He says that Infiniti apparently acknowleges the need for better signal transfer (aka Hyper-Grounding) and for 2005, they are mounting the TCU directly on to the transmission housing.

Well the TCM is built into the trans assy. And yes the scanner called the consult will print out a version number of software that you have right now and if you reprogram it, it will give you the new number. Never heard of Infiniti wanting a better ground for their TCM, are you sure your just trying to push your ground wire kits? Infiniti already has the lowest voltage drop on their grounding systems than any other line of vehicles. It is .09 of one volt, which is pretty damn incredible in itself.

Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
Hey InfinitiTech the reason he pushes them when he does and he wasn't was then IMO, Is that they work. Give all 1000 of us who heard the placebo crud for the last 2 years already a break and get some credible reasoning behind why it won't work once you've seen them in action. Gord send this guy a set and he can cut the dam wires while its on the dyno to see the drop in hp. It's hard to have meaningful discussion with everyone so paranoid gord's gonna come to thier house and take $80 for a grounding kit they are afraid to prove wont work by trying!

Wow that is very surprising, it doesnt surprise me though. I used to wrench for Frontier Infiniti and it is the same service manager for both, and the same owner. What are do you live in? I am working up in Concord for Niello Infiniti, but I live down in Campbell.

Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
In fact I will give anyone who can prove they do nothing to HP or TQ or transmission smoothness by way of better grounding in a 10 wire kit $500. Prove it doesn't work is the statstically desired way to test that something does so if you got the time I got the money.

Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
I would love to see those test results from the dyno, our Infiniti shop has a dyno, and we have tested them. The only improvement I saw on one vehicle that had them was a smoother idle, which would make sense. The MAF needs a superior ground, the weaker the ground the richer it runs. Plus spending 80 to 100 bucks on wires seems like a rip off. I can go down to a local car stereo store and buy some 4 guage wire to ground everything for 1/3 of the price. So back to my point, I have dyno'd the vehicle without the dramatic results you claim. If someone can produce an accurate test result then we can talk. For me, I would rather spend my 100 bucks and something that will make horsepower I can feel at the wheel.

Try reading it again. You prove it doesn't work and I'll give you the money...with the publicity this will bring I bet you can weasel into a free set...

Re: Tranny Programming 5AT
Oh I misunderstood your statement, I thought you said the kits were 500 bucks. Well dude I am not going to bet anything, as i said I have been an Infiniti master tech for 10 years. We have a dyno at our shop, and I have tested it. I dont need to prove anything. If you think it is something great, then so be it. I just disagree. I have done all the testing to prove it to myself. So if someone asks me about them, i will always be honest with my anser
