I did the same thing with mine, makes it nice if you ever plan to sell the car to someone not interested in driving it hard.

so from what I'm understanding, is once the orange wires connection is cut, even if the connection is reinstated, the VDC is still off? So is there any reason no one has installed a momentary n.c. switch instead of a toggle?

i used a toggle, because 99% of the time, i want VDC completely disabled. this way i dont have to hit a switch every time i get in the car. if i want VDC, i just need to flip it before i turn the car on.

something to keep in mind for those of you who are doing this to do burnouts, whenever the brake lights are on, the ECU closes the throttle to about 30%. You need to disconnect the brake light switch to do a major burnout while on the brakes.

Don't know if this is my imagination or what, my car doesn't seem as quick when I use my switch to disable VDC completely. I don't hear the same exhaust note either. Does the loss of communication with the yaw sensor cause the tune to be backed down? Possibly pulling timing? Any help Osiris?

I just read this whole thread and my impression was that this mod would allow you to do a brake stand burnout without affecting your brake lights

im planning or doing this mod shortly, and i know the brake pedal does limit your throttle

I did this Mod when I got off work today, it was pretty simple, getting that plug off was the hardest part, I installed the switch in my change slot like the OP did in his sedan, it works perfect

is there a way to connect a switch to completely turn off all the assisting system like ABS?
do you need a soldering machine to do this?

I believe you can just pull a fuse to disable to ABS, but I haven't checked. If that's all it is, then you should be able to put a switch in series with the fuse. Why would you want to disable the ABS? It's worked great for me.

Just a warning, doing this is dangerous (almost wrecked)
Once you break traction you are along for the ride.
I slid off the highway sideways at @ 50 mph
Just be prepared to ride the sled

Not being able to handle your car, not knowing your limits and the limits of said car is dangerous. There are plenty of cars that don't come equipped with any kind of traction control.

If your a novice driver you shouldn't be turning off your VDC let alone doing this mod.

Glad to hear your alright Jamie, I'm sure things could have gone a lot worse, drive safely!

Many thanks to Op after a ten page read I think I'm going to do this mod although I may just wire it into the VDC stock switch save myself some cutting of the pannels

Exclamation

2003 g35 I turned the vdc off.. in the first part of the video the SLP light came on and caused me to spin out also causing the TRC to be disabled at the same time, in the second part of the video when I went around the pole, i could slide quite easily without any of the traction control interfering as it was disabled
