problem with cold start into first and reverse.

Hey guys,

I'm a car noob and didnt really know what this was so i didnt know what ot search.

Anyway,

Sometimes, if i havent started my car after a while.. like lets say overnight..

I cant get into first gear.. or reverse.... I'm clutched in ALL the way.. and it just wont open the gates.. I have to either sit in my car for a minute or two and keep trying until it barely gets in before i can go..

BUT after driving the car for like 5 minutes.. all is smooth as butter... and if i park and chill for a few hours(4-5) or whatever and start the car and get in again, i dont get that problem.. its only if it sits for a day or so..

any ideas? my clutch going? or maybe a safety feature that doesnt allow me to drive cold.. or.. i really have no idea.

I havent tried going into to second or anything yet. i can try that later.

any help guys?

not that anyone cares. BUT i think i found out the problem.

i tried it again last night and noticed that on a cold start my clutch it actually sort of stuck half way like some other post here. So I pulled the clutch up towards me and it kinda snapped back into place.. and then after that.. All was well..I'll check again tonight to see if it went back to its half pressed in self. Should I just change the clutch fluid?? it only recently started doing this.

Thanks

cleared the clutch fluid a bit and then topped it up.
seemed to work. Really don't know whats wrong but it hasnt happened since I pumped some clutch fluid out. My pops was thinking there was air in the clutch system. He's the car guy not me so I dont even know what means. but yeah he pumped some clutch fluid out and topped it up and it seemed to fix it. hope it helps
