Necromancering to see if your CF driveshafts have continued to be problem-free after 5.5 years of use. I fell into a YouTube hole yesterday wherein an '04 G35 sedan with nothing more than JWT flywheel + clutch + aluminum DS + some intake porting smoked an SRT-8 Challenge. After wading through 38 pages of this thread, I am desperately in love with the idea of a CF driveshaft after wading through 38 pages of this thread.

Wait, are any of you OGs even still on here..?

Is SD Genius in... San Diego? I want to take a look at his shaft, if you know what I mean.

Don't have carbon fiber, but my 4" aluminum shaft hasn't given me any problems with 500wtq.

The aluminum one is still getting the job done? I was thinking of doing that mod for my 04 coupe 6mt

Yes. It weighs a few pounds more than the carbon fiber but is slightly cheaper. I believe there were some issues with a few of the mass produced aluminum ones on here regarding vibrations. Mine was custom made from a different manufacturer though.

checking in here with Aluminum driveshaft in my 03 6mt coupe. No issues, picked it up used for $350 shipped.. HUGE difference in feel over stock combined with a new clutch and aluminum 17# flywheel. Been running it for over 6 months now. I was looking at a CF one used at double the price. No regrets.

I'm still here and still have the driveshaft. I have one of the first CF ones made and installed it back in March 2012 and still going strong coming up on 6 years soon. I probably have over 100k miles on it with zero issues. It's also been inspected every now and then, most recently about a year ago when I pulled the transmission. Looked perfect, nothing abnormal.

Also it's worth pointing out my car is now used more as a track car than a street car and yet no problems. I still highly recommend the mod especially if you are 100k+ miles if not to just get rid of the center carrier bearing on the original 2 piece driveshaft.

Sounds like these driveshafts are getting the job done. Think I will end up getting an aluminum one

51k miles and no issues

yessir. Been a few miles since the install. Still in perfect condition minus a little corrosion on the u joint. Seeing the prices come down quite a bit on these too.

Putting my CF Driveshaft back in GZILLA. What goes around might come back. The Supercharger, the same one from back in the day, also getting installed as you read this.
