carbon fiber driveshaft???
#556
I have a carbon fiber one piece from the Drive Shaft Shop. It will explode into small pieces under catastrophic failure but will not catapult the car. With the right materials my opinion is that I have good dampening and safety in mind with a CF single piece to include reduced weight. This does come at a price but one of my favorite mods.

Necromancering to see if your CF driveshafts have continued to be problem-free after 5.5 years of use. I fell into a YouTube hole yesterday wherein an '04 G35 sedan with nothing more than JWT flywheel + clutch + aluminum DS + some intake porting smoked an SRT-8 Challenge. After wading through 38 pages of this thread, I am desperately in love with the idea of a CF driveshaft after wading through 38 pages of this thread.
Wait, are any of you OGs even still on here..?
Is SD Genius in... San Diego? I want to take a look at his shaft, if you know what I mean.

checking in here with Aluminum driveshaft in my 03 6mt coupe. No issues, picked it up used for $350 shipped.. HUGE difference in feel over stock combined with a new clutch and aluminum 17# flywheel. Been running it for over 6 months now. I was looking at a CF one used at double the price. No regrets.

Also it's worth pointing out my car is now used more as a track car than a street car and yet no problems. I still highly recommend the mod especially if you are 100k+ miles if not to just get rid of the center carrier bearing on the original 2 piece driveshaft.
