<puts on flame suit>

Hi all,

I've been very interested in purchasing a G lately and have test drove several (2005 model year). The first thing I notice is how loose and/or imprecise the shifting feels when compared to my current car. Ok here is where I really put on my flame suit: my current car is a Civic Si with shortshifter/aluminum bushings.

I'm wondering if putting an ss kit on this car would help make it feel more stiff and precise like it did for my current car, and if the bushing replacement would help as well. In fact, is the shifter attached in such a way that bushings are used/replaceable at all?

I really like the car but was disappointed with imprecision of shifts (lots of "rubbery" feel once you hit a gear as well as very loose throws). Hoping this can be remedied with a few relatively inexpensive after-market parts.

dude, its just part of the "experience" its been talked to death on here. don't get the car if you don't like that because it's not gonna change.

 

Get a solid transmission mount to get rid of most of that slushy shifter feeling. A short shifter won't tighten the shifting feel. Yea, Hondas have the best shifters hands down... especially with some $20 aluminum shifter bushings installed. If you spend a little more and get the solid bushings that go up front, the Honda's shifter feels even better.

BTW, which Si do you have? EK? EP? FA/FG? I used to have an EP...

 

I have a silver FG2. It looks like I'm really going to miss the shifting if I make the switch. Do you by chance know who sells base or cable bushings (or both) for the g35? I couldn't find them and am not yet familiar with reputable online places.
