Please help, clutch question.
Please help, clutch question.
First I would like to know what clutch some of you would recommend. Im not looking to race just want a good clutch that will last and has better performance then stock.. I am going to supply the parts, but what should I be expecting in labor costs? How many labor hrs is a clutch job on a 2004 g35 coupe? Thanks in advance for all of your help.
A lot of people on here recommend JWT clutch/fly combo....I have an ACT Clutch/fly and it suits my needs....but as far as labor....it just depends who you take it to and how good they are with it. I just put my own fly and clutch in and it took me 8 hours. But i'm sure a transmission shop could do it faster than I did. That being said, when i was quoted a price, they said 80 dollars an hour, so i did it myself.
What mods do you have? Do you plan on going FI?

personally i like to oem unit. i find it performs well for a daily driver and has lots of life. my oem clutch was replaced under warranty at 60k kms when i had the tranny replaced under warranty because the new tranny was not compatible with the old clutch. the tech said that my original clutch had tons of life left, it could have easily gone another 60k. if you know how to drive properly, clutches should last 100k+ miles.
unless you plan on modifying your car to have big power the stock clutch is great. remember that driveability suffers with most of the aftermarket units. light weight drivetrain parts are great on the track but are not always the most practical. that said, there must be a good aftermarket setup that can give you the best of both worlds...
