Are all shift ***** created equal?

Hi folks, I'm looking to replace the shift **** on my auto sedan and I've seen some nice ones out there. Are they universal fit? Will any fit on or are there designated "manual" and "automatic" *****? If so, which ones will fit on my car? Thanks.

Re: Are all shift ***** created equal?

What year is your G? They changed the Sedan shift **** on the 04's to one that virtually mirrors the 350Z AT ****. The button faces the radio and it's much rounder. I ordered a 350Z **** from Performance Nissan but I'm thinking of returning it because I would have to create slots in the shift column to support the **** with the clip. The slots don't line up right and it's not a direct replacement part. I don't want to cut my column. If the '04 Infiniti **** is a direct replacement and cutting slots in the column are avoided, that's the route I'm going. I'm going to my dealer tomorrow for an oil change. I'm going to see if they'll let me do a fitting of the 04 **** on my 03 Sedan and I'll see if it's a direct replacement. You will have to get an adapter compression part to transverse the shifting from sideways to frontways. That part is universal from Nissan to Infiniti. It's part number 34951-CG000. Either way, I'll let you know what happens. There's a pic of the 04 350Z shift **** at the Perfomance Nissan web site www.performancenissan.com. The Infiniti **** is the same design but if the fittings are on the money and direct, I'm returning my 350Z ****.

Mine's an 03.5 Sedan AT. I'm interested in aftermarket shiftknob but the only one I see that's designated for the AT is a Momo one. Any other suggestions?

It would have to be an AT ****, the manual ***** won't have a button to depress to shift gears. The MOMO AT shift **** matches nicely with the titanium center console. I think you saw mine. Sorry I don't know about any other auto shift *****.

Razo also makes one, check out this thread for a pic.

I have that one on my car and personally like it better than the momo one, also the razo one doesn't have a button to shift instead you push the whole unit down to shift.

Yeah, seeing your shifter's what got me thinking about one myself. Just want something different I guess. BTW, you should see my car after this weekend. Getting it dropped, 19s put on, Aero kit, and billet grille! Can't wait.

Damn dude, business must be good. I have to do everything in steps. I ordered the HKS Hipermax LS coilovers and should have them installed in about 3 weeks. After that it's all about the wheels.

What did you get to lower your G???

Nothing special for the lowering. I'm just using some Tein S-techs. Coilovers are too expensive for me since I don't usually push my car all that hard.

Cool, when you get everything installed I'd like to check out your ride.

Re: Are all shift ***** created equal?

Got the 350Z a.k.a. G35 2004 AT shift **** installed on my 2003.5 sedan. I actually bought two *****, one with wood grain inset and the other with 350 titanium (a little lighter than G35 titanium). The install wasn't nearly as tough as I thought it would be but the 2004 AT **** is not a direct replacement into the 2003 model year car! You have to saw the shift column to create slots so the clip from the **** will hold it in place and you won't pop the **** off when you press the button.

Enjoy the pics!

Re: Are all shift ***** created equal?

Another angle.

The **** is smaller, rounder, and has the button facing the radio rather than the side. You not only need the **** but also a compression adapter that's blue in color, Nissan part # 34951-CG000. This stupid adapter costs $20.00 or more alone from the dealer.
