No, they didn't. They suggested not to use a VB that wouldn't match with the VIN of my car. Too late for me since I bought it before calling them. One thing that sound weird to me is that many of this shops that offer the upgrade service at one point in time they had cores already upgraded ready to be shipped. How do they know which one to send to each car after so many variations in a model-year?

You will not get a clear 100% answer from anyone until u take out your 4.5 VB and compare it with the 2005 side by side. Half the time infiniti doesn't even know what they are doing... why u think ppl go to outside shops to get their work done instead of bring it to the dealers???

LIke others have stated, most likely the 4.5 VB are the same as the 2005 and up. If u think logically for sec, why would infiniti make a new VB in 4.5, then spend more money on another one in 2005, and so on for 2006-7? I believe they change part #s for the same items each year. Did u ask if the 2003-2004 VB had the same part # bc I have read they were suppose to be the same?

U have basically 2 options:
#1, u sell it.

#2, u take out your old VB and compare it to the 2005 and if they look the same u are set to go and if they are different u sell the 2005 VB and u send out your 4.5 VB to GTM, Forge, stillen, level 10, etc and u wait 2-4 wks of downtime for it to come back.

That's the part i don't find to understand. Following the person I spoke with at GTM 2003 and 2004 VB are completely differents. That's when the TCm change occurred. 2003 VB => TCM outside / 2004 VB => TCM inside.

I dont know what to tell u. Everywhere I read it states 03-04 are the same and then 4.5 and up are the same except for the awd sedans.

U can try searching for ppl that purchase VB in the past and ask them what yr their tranny is bc all the VB upgrades I have seen were SOLD and no one reported issues afterwards.

The vb's will differ depending on when they were produced during the year, you cant just swap vb's. You have to make sure they are the same, cause if not it will not work and the tranny will go into limp mode

Well when i bought mine from one of the mods on my350z i had to make some changes. The one i got came from an early z and mine is an early g and the only difference was how the electronics hooked up.The z used a single connector and the g had two connectors so i just swapped the whole solenoid plate inc the solenoids and it has worked perfect for two years.
