Valve Body Upgrade for NA?

I was considering getting a valve body uprgade and I did some searching around, but every thread I found was related to FI and the 5AT. And every boosted 5AT person says that the VB upgrade was well worth it.

But Im not FI, I just have bolt-ons and the only tranny mod (if you want to call it that) is a B&M cooler.

Now I was wondering, would getting the VB upgrage (for NA) be worth it? would it still give me the crisp shifts and all that?

Thanks.

I think it would be just as good a mod NA as it would FI.I have to have it with the twins as it hit the rev limiter all the time.Do it and you wont be sorry.

I don’t have vb (yet) - but have driven 2 NA Gs with it... the shifts are much crisper and quicker - definitely noticeable... whether it would help in 1/4 mile, I'm not certain - but it did shift faster and felt snappier. I'm getting it one of these days... still waiting to find reasonably priced labor for the Transgo kit.

it's worth it N/A if your modded. OCG35 took my car for a spin and he liked it.

I would get the transgo kit. I have the stillen VB which was the only one out in 04 besides SGP.

Why the Transgo? It shifts faster than the stillen or level 10 VB for about the same price.

Most prices will range from about $700-$1000 for the unit transgo, stillen.....labor will vary depending where you take it, however, I have found that it ranges anywhere from $300-$600..so I hope that helps..

No, I'm not. I just bought this already upgraded VB from a 2005 coupe thinking that I would be able to use it in my 2004 sedan. When I called Riverside Infiniti and GTM they said that each VB from each car have different part number. Now, how different they really are from one year to the other is the issue that has stopped me from installing it in my car. I’ve been reading all over this forum and I haven’t found a solid answer. By a solid answer I mean someone that already try this before.

based on the link I posted, maybe its a blessing you arent using the VB?... I have know way to know if it would be problematic, but there are several horror stories about trans issues from SGP in that thread.

Well, I bought it from Mr_pharmD and he said he used it for a year in his car without a problem. Do you know of anyone that might have a clue about the difference between VB following the last digits of the part number?

sorry no.

I'm inclined to think that since you are 04.5 it will work - but I don’t know for sure and I'm not certain about the part number discrepancy - I guess Riverside and GTM didn’t have the answer to the difference?

I don’t think too many (if any) have done the same swap, so getting an actual user to answer might be difficult.

You might want to call Stillen and tell them you have a VB from 05 going into an 04.5 and ask if it will work (just act like its their VB upgrade)…
