What is tihs stuff coming from my pumpkin?

looked underneath my car today and saw this leaking from where the pumpkin meets the frame. There is a hollow hole up there where the pumpkin actually goes in. Any ideas?

do you have your exhaust heat wrapped all the way back?

I've never seen this as an issue until recently. Thats at least 3 people that are having this problem right nowl

I talked to Tony at MD and he said that one of his friend's Z also has this issue, I'm taking it in next week to see what this is and if it's a problem.

Yeah, it's wrapped, siliconed sealed, and siliconed sprayed from the headers to the portion you see.

^ Keeps the exhaust temp down but also shortens the lifespan of metal. They also tend to crack the wrapped piping if water splashes on it while it's hot.

^does keeping the temp down help it to perform better? i.e. more power?

The headers were wrapped mainly for heat, but the other big reason is for reduced vibration and noise. The reduction in rasp and drone was reduced quite a bit.

The heat soak from the heat of the headers will be reduced at low speed, but once the car gets going then it probably doesn't matter. For the exhaust i don't believe it adds any performance benefit.

Wrapping exhaust helps keep exhaust temp inside the metal hotter which increase exhaust flow speed. It can help with performance some...many people do this with headers. Also keeping engine temps lower is a good thing for every reason.

It can cause metal life to diminish. That is why a lot of people dont do it.
