Re: VDC On or Off??

you are right. VDC shuts off all electronic support (cylinder shutdown and braking) but of course you cannot shut off LSD because its mechanical

Re: VDC On or Off??

I leave mine off unless the road is wet. It is faster with the VCD off.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: VDC On or Off??

It is faster... And I feel like a moron whenever a big-mufflered civic is next to me at a light and he starts racing... I don't necessarily race anymore, but I will keep up once in a while... and I shift hard, boom...VDC hits the breaks for me and I learch forward. I hate that.

Re: VDC On or Off??

The G35 actually has a portion of the VDC system dubbed "Brake LSD." It's not a real mechanical one, it uses the brake to force power from a spinning wheel to the other wheel. This piece of the system remains on when VDC is turned off. Stability and Traction controls are completely off.

Re: VDC On or Off??

Once again, another great idea that would have been better if the driver had the ability to permanently leave it off. Like the old style fog light buttons on Honda/Acuras.....once depressed it stays depressed. Hmmmm, I wonder if there is a way to simply trick the VDC button into thinking it's depressed until otherwise pressed. Errrr, I'm starting to get dePRESSED. Heee, hee, hee!

Re: VDC On or Off??

I call the VDC button the STUPID button!

When I turn it off I can be as stupid as I want to be. Smokey burnouts, drifting through corners, sideways any time!

Most of the time I just leave it on, but I sure hate it when it kicks in. It is set way too sensitive for my driving. I can handle a little loss of traction, but with it engaged, you really have to work to get the tires to chirp.

I like the idea of the auto-off switch that is sold but really wish we had range of settings that could be selected. I know that other cars have something like a "normal", "track", "winter" settings for their traction control. The current setting is more like "winter" all the time and I'd like it to be closer to "track".

Maybe some software genius could modify the ECU to allow a variety of settings. I'd pay to have my software upgraded!

Re: VDC On or Off??

I turn mine off to increase the life of my brake pads and rotors. When it is wet, I will leave it on.

Re: VDC On or Off??

indycoupe on the freshalloy board posted at fix for VDC OFF at startup.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...=&sb=5&o=&vc=1

The only difference for the sedan is instead of the two outermost wires used in the coupe, the sedan uses the two lower wires.
