REVIEW: BG Ultra-Guard and BG Synchro Shift II
REVIEW: BG Ultra-Guard and BG Synchro Shift II
Yesterday I went and had my transmission and differential fluid drained and refilled. I went with BG SyncroShift II 75w80 for the transmission and BG Ultra-Guard 75w140 for the differential. Both of these fluids are fully synthetic.
Before everyone starts, I know that this is not the viscosity Nissan officially recommends for the differential but I spoke with several master technicians both with Nissan and Infiniti who said this was safe to do and recommended I use it.
My initial first impression is great. The transmission shifts butter smooth and is very quiet. Shifting is less notchy and engagement has greatly improved. I will keep everyone posted on long term effects.

Will do. Mine was hard to shift last winter also. I believe the East Coast in in for a cold, snowy winter this year so I will keep you posted.

I just put Amzoil in my 6MT hopeing for smoother shifts as my tranny is super hard to shift into 2nd when cold.
It did nothing to help, probably works great if you have good syncros though.

UPDATE!
Since it's gotten a little colder the last week or so I figured I would upadate those that wanted to know about shifts when cold. It has dipped into the upper 30's and lower 40's over the last week and I have not had any difficulty shifting into first gear with the engine/transmission cold. I did have trouble getting it into second gear only once. Prior to changing the trans and diff fluid I had trouble every time it was cold shifting into first and second. We'll see how it holds up through the winter.

I'll update this again today!
Transmission is giving me no problems in the cold. The car is sitting outside all night and not in the garage so when I start it every morning it has been sitting in sub 20 degree weather all night (12hrs)
I would still recommend these products to anyone!
