05 Auto vs 6mt

I've always wanted to get the G in manual, but I found a killer deal on an 05 auto (fully loaded with every factory option and package).

For those of you that have driven both, or yours is an auto, how is it?
I've driven the bmw 335i in automatic, and although it's not as fun as the manual, it shifts very very quickly and smoothly and is still very nice to drive.

Even though the manual is more fun, think I'd really regret getting an auto(I know people have diff preferences, but just want to hear some opinions) ? even if it is a good deal ($2k cheaper than any others I've seen with near this mileage, AND it's fully loaded)

Thanks all

I would get what you ultimately want. You can compromise small things (navi, spoiler, and other small accessories) but I it would take a lot of $$ to swap a tranny. I would wait cause couple weeks later, you're going to regret it IMO

MT FTW!
If you get AT all of the following will happen: You'll have nightmares. Youll never be happy no matter how much you mod it. Youll never enjoy your car. AT FTL

Get what you want, purchasing a car is no small decision so you ultimately should get what you would enjoy the most. If it's a matter of a bit more money, look at it as you're going to be driving this car for the next few years, may as well just bite the bullet instead of having years of regret or worse yet, end up losing a ton trading it in for manual transmission down the road.

This is my second G35, and both have been automatics, I wouldn't want it any other way. A lot of kids that haven't grown out of the fast and furious phase will trash talk those with automatics, but ultimately it's what suits my needs and expectations the best. My point is, if the auto had been several thousand more expensive and harder to find, I still would've waited for one.

Go for what you love. You only want the automatic so you can save on 2k cash but then you will be driving it unhappy and your mind will be telling you atleast you saved 2 grand. I would pay more for something I want then pay less for something I don't want.

i have a 6mt and it does suck in traffic but you get used to it....i guess! it all depends on wherever you live and how much traffic you have to go through. i have to go through quite a bit of traffic every day but i still love it....id say 6mt but thats just my opinion. either way youll love you G

Manual Tranny for sure. If you're questioning your decision now, you will be second guessing it and lamenting your decision in no time after you buy it if you go with the auto.

That being said... you should definitely test drive both an auto and a 6MT G35 first before you buy one.

If your already feeling you might regret not getting a MT. Just wait and find a MT you're happy with. Like other have said small tings are easy to add tranny ain't one of them. Plus you get more HP.

i was in the same position as you. found a killer deal for an auto, but was a manual driver. but i needed a car so i jumped on the auto. however, i do not regret it at all. i drove the manual 07 g35 and it was quick and responsive, a lot more than auto, but since i live in ny, and i get stuckin traffic most of the times i drive, i dont regret my decision. but yea, like everyone says, get what you really want. dont just throw down money on a good deal and gamble on something you mgiht regret later on. for me i was lucky to get auto and actually like it lol.

You guys are all completely right. I rarely run into traffic, I'm going to be patient and wait for the right 6mt. I've heard way way too many good things about the 6mt, hopefully soon I'll find the right one and be in the club! Thanks everyone
