prior to that it was used in one of the Frontiers (I dont remember what year or version), I researched the hell out of it before I got it - but once I got mine, didnt really deal with it much... I have posts out here somewhere from when I did it, I posted the other vehicles that had it back then.
Go ahead and find out which ones Which have the same size ring/pinion? I'm told that the auto > 6mt are different

BTW, Toll is your real name Willey (even though I thought it was spelled *****)?
It could possibly be...I was looking for one for a while but didnt know which had it. I wish there was a exact size pumpkin to swap.

And no...my first name is John(athon)

I started using the name "tollboothwilley" a long time ago back when Adam Sandler's "what the hell happened to me" CD came out. I used it as a gamer profile in Starcraft, Warcraft II, etc. It somehow just stuck, became my email and my sign in name for a lot of things. Its actually my xbox live ID as well if you guys play at all. I don't play much, but sometimes I find time away from the wife while the baby is asleep and I bust it out

I use "Your Mother" a lot for screen names on games. Obviously that makes for some funny jokes.

LOL. I had friends try to get things like that to stick, they never did. You're more than welcome to call me that, but I'll likely not understand you're talking to/about me. haha

Got my 3.5 VLSD pumkin today from the salvage yard and I've got a few questions. The pumpkin came out of an 06 6MT sedan. The differential vent is different than what I've seen on other pumpkins. The vent on this cover looks like a bullet casing that's been tap sealed around the vent nipple. The cap is loose and inside the vent cap is a soft spring and rubber membrane. Basically when the fluid gets warm and the air expands, the air pushes up the cap, spring, and membrane and vents. What's the first design (ie with the hose) like in terms of venting? Is it just a hose that has a fitting and it routed downward and vents to the atmosphere? I'm assuming this new style vent is fine.

Secondly, the wheel speed harness connector is broken on the new pumpkin. Can I transfer the speed sensors and harness over from my 03 diff to the 06 diff? I'm assuming they're the same parts.

You just have a newer style venting system which will work fine. 2003 they have a hose which runs off the vent tube to the subframe. 2004-2005 looks like it just vents downward. 2006 must be when they changed to a spring based venting system, which is probably similar to how the radiator cap works. You'll be fine with all the options. I actually reused the hose and connected it up to new diff since it was there.

Yes, you can transfer the sensor harness. They will be a direct swap.

^Thanks Chief. Now if it would just warm up in KC. It's been in the single digits for the past week. It's sad when the car has trouble keeping the interior toasty warm when you're on the highway and the temps show an indicated -5 to 3. There is definitely a point in temp when the car feels slow in the cold. 35 degrees seems to be the threshold. Anything colder and the car feels slower, especially in the single digits.

I did mine when it was like 15-20* outside. I did it in a garage but the door was open and my legs were hanging out part of the time. It was cold but it didnt take that long.

It probably is slower from air/fuel mixtures being different and ECU not adjusting to that cold of temps. I haven't noticed much diff with temps, but then again, unless the roads are mostly clear I don't drive it that much.

I've never had a problem with the car not keeping the interior warm. I've driven it in that cold of weather, just seems to take longer to get comfortable in the cabin. Thank goodness for heated seats.

Dave, just do the swap after you have driven the car around. The heat of the exhaust should help keep you warm.

LOL. Ya, if you get cold you can just hold onto the exhaust for a while. You can even turn it back on to warm it up if you get cold. In fact, I'm sure you could just leave the car running and the radiant heat from the exhaust will keep it reasonable (just don't breathe all the exhaust). Go for it. haha

Well it seems to me that since we don't fit those categories entirely, but we are internet friendly and acquainted... "Athon" is the fitting name

What do you think R2D2? ooops, I mean nfsp1? Considering the context it appeared in this thread, I think that's how we should address him - and it would ***** with ppl later when they start calling him Athon and don't know why ).

I've worked on my car after I've driven it before. But not RIGHT after . Working on a car that radiats some heat can't be a bad thing if you're on your back in 10 deg weather. I even start the car up and let it run for a min or two so the oil heats up before an oil change.
