AT transmission issue Please help
AT transmission issue Please help
So i posted this in transmission slip, but maybe if i start a new thread it'll get some more replies.
Issue:
Around approximately 15 mph, RPM 1100, while i'm cruising, if i give it a tiny bit of throttle the engine will rev up to 1500 before i feel the transmission kick in and car starts moving. This is noticeable primarily in stop and go traffic, and usually when i'm cruising downhill in traffic where it feels like the engine has to rev-up to a certain rpm cause my car is going downhill (don''t know if that makes sense.)
This doesn't feel like transmission slip and one user replied that the torque converter is not locking up.
Is this normal?? I have an 03 g35 5AT with 110k miles.
Also related to this, i just got a drain and fill and the mechanic told me that the AT fluid was overfilled by about 1/2 a quart, and i've been driving with that for 20k miles.
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!

add some lucas trans fluid additive and maybe do a bg cleaner to it and a tranny cooler always helps...... but add the lucas tranny fluid additive to help prevent slipping and others issues first
overfill is not good...but its probably not slipping. some of the early models had some issues with slow reacting transmissions. Theslae were resolved with some ECU/TCU upgrades via reflash at the dealer.
well mine is sittin at 104k and has seen many track days and was s/c for a while.. shifts good... 3rd motor but 1st tranny.. i learned alot on my 01 accord v6 tranny, went through a few of them
Haha nice analogy homieg.
Well, mine shifts pretty damn good, its just that issue. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing it, you might have to pay close attention while your driving though, cause it doesn't feel like much.
