I've been through this entire posts and am considering this mod but I'm wondering about my speedometer, does it need to be recalibrated to be correct? or is the speed sensor in the diff cover?

No need to recalibrate. You might have to swap the sensors over though. The sensors are essentially on the axles.

And if you do get a newer diff you might have to switch out your oil seal....this is the metal disc at the bottom of the flange.... depending on what year you got. Also, somebody asked about this....I personally lifted the car and placed it on jack stands.....the diff assembly weighs about 90lbs though so it's a B***H to install under that car height but possible. Try to borrow an impact wrench if possible. That was the only way I was able to remove the pinion nut. There are other tips in this thread. I know cuz I asked a LOT of questions....So thanks to everyone who helped me out!!!!

From there the rest was easy enough.....My tip on switching the oil seals beneath the flange....stick a very thin screw driver between the plate and the diff flange....then just tap and work your way around until it comes off...have to do this for both diffs to complete the switch....I also had to slightly grind the old flange in-order for the new oil seal to fit....you will see what I mean....it just kinda has a few slightly raised areas which kept on the old oil seal
May I ask someone with the experience why this seal has to be replaced?

So my buddy is selling his 2008 g35xs pumpkin off his g...
It has 3.69 gears and was looking to do this upgrade soon. I've read the thread that the g35s works with the 350z with small pinion shaft and dust shield modifications, or with the manual trans it bolts right up

Now I want to know if this punkin will work with those modifications to my Z. It's an 2007 hr with vlsd, I know the dust shield cover will have to be swapped and most likely the pinion shaft cut but after that will it work? Any knowledge will help

Btw the x has a different dish shield than both the ones shown on pictures here it is a thicker 6 bolt dust shield.

Im not sure what he is referring to as a seal, but the flange has to be changed to the 4 connector type (taken from OEM) if your donor diff has a 3 connector type (mine did)

The sensors (wires) do not need to be swapped, you could use the ones that are currently on the car.

So I'm in the process of swapping my 3.3 pumpkin with a 3.7 VLSD pumpkin on my 2003 G Sedan and need some help with the breather hose on the back of the diff. My 03 sedan does not have a breather hose installed. So I have ordered one, but the connector is on back order so I'm trying to find a suitable hose connector at my local auto parts store.

Does anyone have a good pic of the breather hose connection? Also, I need the hose diameter and any info on the type of fitting that is required? I think think the hose just runs from the back of the diff to somewhere on the rear subframe, but from looking at the FSM I can't tell exactly where the hose should connect.

Thanks in advance for any help
