Just out of curiosity: Super Tech ATF?

I was talking to a mechanic buddy of mine a while back about how I'll be needing to do a 60K tune-up pretty soon on my car and mentioned how if I provide the fluids and necessary parts, he'll do the labor for close to free. I told him that would be fine and would have to wait for me to save up some money to get the fluids from the dealership or an alternate source seeing as how I no longer have a job and all. He asked me why would I want to spend $10-$15 for a quart of fluid where instead I could spend maybe $4 at most on a quart. I asked him how and he points me to a bottle of Super Tech (Wal-Mart brand) Mercon V ATF to be used in my 6MT. He pointed on the bottle how it says that it'll work with Nissan Matic-J and should be fine but I'm kind of iffy about it.

My question is, has anyone personally tried using Super Tech fluids in their cars other than engine oil? I used to run their 5W30 dino oil in my old daily without a problem, but I'm not sure about their ATF in my Nissan tranny. I'm assuming that it would be a bi-product from one of the major oil manufacturers (Castrol, Mobil, etc) since I do recall someone mentioning in another thread how Nissan's OEM fluids are manufactured by Castrol unless I miss-read that information (which does happen from time to time).

So any thoughts as in yay or nay would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
