04 5at rear diff
Easy way. Go to open parking lot, stop, floor it (burn out a little hopefully)go back, one tire mark...open 3.3, 2 tire marks, vlsd 3.3 (I'm pretty sure all the autos had 3.3 FD. If need be find a sandy parking lot or dirt lot.
Jack up the rear end put the car in Neutral, spin one tire and if the other tire spins the oposite direction it has VLSD. Or have a friend hold one wheel and spin the other one if it has VLSD you wont be able to spin the tire. Or as other have said do a little burn out if only one wheel spins you have an open diff.
Does your car have OEM Brembo brakes? I think if it had the Brembo package they came with VLSD.

I just read that if your car came with the performance wheel and tire package then you have the LSD. I dont think the vsld was offered until the 05 models.
really cause i just talked to the guy from z1 motorsports and he said if your car has the spoiler, leather, and bose system, which i guess means you have the premuim package or sport package, that means you have the VLSD....i hope hes right cause i just bought a 3.5 VLSD to swap out my 3.3...i wonder how if you can swap out a Open Dif with a VLSD one?
