2004 G35 Stuck in Manual Mode/Neutral

On Friday night when i went to park my car the shifter accidently shifted over into the manual mode. I tried to put it back into drive but the shifter was stuck. I cant take my keys out or put the car into park. I have 74k on the odometer and im not trying to see the dealer. I noticed it happened to quite a few ppl with these cars and it didnt take long for the car to be fixed. I was wondering does anyone know what the problem is.

Remove the Shifter (platic cover slides down, remove metal clip, pull assembly up)

Lift center console up - disconnect wiring clips

You should be able to move it around now - enough to free it up and put it back where it should go

help

Same issue here! Cant shift. Took apart the center console. It seems the shift is "LOCKED" into manual mode. I cant get it to MOVE over to the AUTO modes. Is there a LOCK somewhere?

Same here. Bump for a fix....I even have pics with the center console taken apart. My digital shifter shows blank....but when I force my Shifter over half an inch it goes from blank to "N" which is still incorrect because the far left should be "D"

gonna try this at lunch, i was almost sideswiped this morning when my car decided to do this during a turn from a small street onto a busy freeway. Which wiring clips are supposed to be disconnected, and what caused this issue?
