Engine Swap.. AT/MT Question.

Tried searching, no luck.

I have an 03 6MT with oil consumption (big surprise). I bought it a year ago and so far it only has 80 000 Miles.
I came across a steal of a price on a engine from and 05 AT, who also had consumption issues, and in 2009 went to the dealership and bought a new engine, and had it installed there for about 10K. To date, it only has about 5000 Miles on it..
Since I still have my transmission, would the engine swap be a big deal or a fairly straightforward install??? Or is it going to be alot more labor intensive..
Thanks guys

He probably got the 03.5 its straight forward unless you are changing transmissions.

I'm waiting to get the paperwork from him with the specs/details of the engine swap. But if he bought it new from the dealership in 2009... and he had an 05 AT.. any idea what engine would it have been that they would have put in it.. The 287hp? Revup @ 198hp? Less then 287hp? Or is there no way to tell until i get the paperwork?

Also... whats the difference between the 03 and 03.5?
Thanks guys.

The only dif in a 6mt and a 5at is the pilot bushing for the 6mt for the trans.

The engine that he has for his 5AT is the same engine they installed in all 2003-2006 5ATs. They are all interchangeable and should be straight forward. You should probably just give me your old motor when you do the swap as well. It makes sense, if you think about it.

Well I guess that makes good sense then. Is there anyway to know in advance when buying a used engine if there are consumption issues if no contact with the previous owner is possible, IE some junk yard or something?

Also, 2ould it be a hard swap to swap a 05-07 Rev-Up Engine in my bay? Would I need a bunch of new wiring and jazz or still a fairly simple swap? Sorry about the noob questions.

And Tollboothwilley... Nice try on the free motor, haha.... I appreciate your reasoning there for sure.
