clutch diagnose. What do I need to fix? I need as many opinions as possible!!

Hello everyone, I just want to say Im glad to be a part of the forum and am looking forward to getting some expert opinions.

August of 09 I purchased an 06 6mt sedan with 48K. After a few months I found the lengthy clutch travel annoying, so using the DIY instructions in a thread on this website, I adjusted my clutch travel to be much shorter, and am very happy with the results.

All gears engage/disengage perfectly, however I've noticed the clutch pedal becoming increasingly "squishy" over time. My clutch pedal has about 1 inch of play in its "at rest" position (I can move it effortlessly with my toe back and forth at the beginning of the clutch travel). I flushed my clutch fluid and put new fluid in (it was dark orange colored, now its clear.)

Because I have an inch of play, my engagement point is literally only about 3/4 of an inch in from the disengagment point. (am i making any sense?) This makes accelerating from 0mph difficult on hills (I usually have to over rev) and I want to know how to eliminate this 1 inch of play. I also want my clutch pedal to return to its factory "stiffness." It's much softer now than it should be.

I live 70 miles from the closest Infiniti dealership. (northeast pa)
My questions are: is this something I should have looked at by a mechanic? Is this something the dealership should look at? I know clutches aren't covered, but are the masters/slaves? I'm pretty handy and can fix most things on my own, but does this sound like master slave or slave cylinder problems? Or is this a symptom of hydraulic clutch problems? Im very picky with my cars and try to keep them in near new running condition. So this is definitely something I want to address.

HELP!

It sounds like either you've got air in the system and/or you've over-adjusted the clutch play. If you over-adjust the play, you can quickly wear out the clutch or pressure plate.

Make sure your clutch pedal isn't adjusted lower then your brake pedal. Mine is slightly higher.
