I know its a little late but...
It was pretty easy:
Grease the part below the splines and rotate the shaft 180 degrees and put the shaft back in. Then make sure you torque the nut back to factory settings and put the cotter pin back in. Then you are done.
You won't risk anything as long as you torque everything back to spec that you take off.
Pretty easy and not much if anything can go wrong unless you have no experience working on vehicles
