Questions about G35 fluid contamination

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the G35 auto. I'm looking at getting one preferably a coupe. What I'm nervous about is the 5at. From what my transmission builder and mechanic has been telling me is that these transmissions have a issue of having the contamination of coolant and transmission fluid. If I get a g35 I want to build it and I've been concerned about this. Are there any upgrades to prevent this contamination? Also would the manual transmissions handle more power or is better with a supercharger? Only thing I've seen is the valve body upgrade or a built transmission by speedforce racing. Engine rebuilding I'm looking at soho performance and import performance pro(need to recheck the site as I don't see the prices anymore for the engine).

The tranny fluid/coolant contamination happens when the stock radiator crapastrophically fails since it uses an internal/integrated cooler for both.

If you're planning on building the motor you will almost definitely be running an aftermarket transmission cooler so that will no longer even be possible for coolant contamination. Even with the stock radiator it's INCREDIBLY rare for this to happen, but it's always a possibility on 99.99% of cars on the road since practically every vehicle except for heavy duty trucks use a single radiator for both the coolant and ATF.

That said, yes the 6MT is far more robust than the 5AT but it completely depends on how much power you are realistically looking to make. The 5AT can hold almost 400whp pretty reliably. The 6MT CD009 will hold 1000+ all day on street tires, for dedicated track use with slicks they're good all day for about 800whp. The CD009 has a long history of being swapped into cars that are making those power numbers.

The 5AT will almost definitely need the TransGo shift kit, it makes the shifts much more enjoyable.

That's true about adding the transmission oil cooler aftermarket. That can help a lot. I've also heard about the shift kits but I saw a built transmission and converter from speedforce racing that looks good. I honestly want a manual transmission for many reasons but I for this car I only have power goals of 500 to 525rwhp. So I don't want anything extreme.
