Question will the 350z carbon fiber drive shaft fit a g35

the 350z track model has a carbon fiber drive shaft from factory. what i want to know is will it fit on a g35 coupe? i here the wheel base is longer on a g35. but is the lengh of the rear to the tranny different, maybe the tranny in a 350z doesn't sit in the same place as the g35. if anyone has an answer to this question please let me know.

No, the Z driveshaft is too short for the G.
The "midship" front clip between the two Z vs G are identical, however, the G35C is longer from the tranny back.

That's a good question. I'm wondering how much the Z CF driveshaft weighs compared to the G driveshaft. Could possibly free up a little bit of drivetrain loss.

EDIT: Posted too late.

Lighter wheels will buy you more.
Everyone goes with the bling of 19"ers but they just add to rotational loss.

Yeah, losing unsprung weight is more beneficial. That's why when I went aftermarket I stuck with 17x8's weighing in at 17 lbs per wheel. But my new tires weighed a little more than stock because of the added width, but still a net loss overall.

Of course, the stock 19"s on the '05's are lighter than the 18's....

True, but the mass is concentrated further away from the wheel center, increasing rotational inertia, which is another key aspect you want to minimize for acceleration and braking performance.

1 inch further away, to be exact...

To really figure it out, you would have to find the rotational moment of inertia, and that is not a simple thing. Whichever one has a lower rotational moment of inertia is the one easier to rotate, which means less HP is lost to the wheels.

It's not only a matter of the rim weight, the tire weight is much more important. Tires weigh as much if not more than most rims now. And the mass is farthest from the rotational center.

I think all 350Z's have the carbon fiber drive shaft. But you wouldn't be able to tell looking at stock 350Z vs G35 dynos. So unless it's a simple bolt on, I don't think it's worth the swap.

The track 350Z's do tend to dyno higher though, due to the lighter rims.

That would be true if 19" was a radius and not a diameter.

Well, ok, fine, 0.5 inches all around. Was thinking too quick.

the tire weight is just as important. but there are differences with tire compounds as well. sometimes a heavier tire has better traction and sidewall strength (potenza), and sometimes it has heavy weight and low traction (when compared to other tires of the same category (avs, 711-712's etc..)), and sometimes it is lighter and has very decent traction (t-1's). it's all preference. but the tire is the outmost weight of the inertia, therefor has the biggest impact on rotational mass. basically, if you're into weightloss, check for tire weight as well, ...and xenadrine. i had a friend that lost 56 lbs., shaved a tenth off his 1/4 mile.

Thanks Guys For The Info On The Drive Shaft. Now Does Anyone Know Who Might Be Making One Or Who Can Customize One For Me. At A Reasonable Price, I Don't Mind Paying But Don't Want To Get Rip.
