I just wanted to give you a big thank you for this guide.

I changed out my spark plugs today. Took me longer than most people (2+ hrs).

Everything was clear from the guide.

I highly recommended everyone do this. I've never done any mechanical work before, so anyone can do this.

If you need a torque wrench, you can get one from Harbor Freight for $15 or less if you have a 20% coupon. They also have a 4-pack of extensions for $5, magnetic pickup tool for $2, spark plug socket for $5.

Essentially, I got all the tools for less than $30. My mechanic was charging me $100 for the labor, so I still saved $70.

 

Yeah, I'm w/ you man. Before I had this car, the only things I've done w/ prior cars was oil changes. This forum has boosted my confidence & guided me with a lot of installs. I think the top 3 installs I've done on my car thanks to this forum are: 1) spark plug change, 2) plenum spacer install and 3) grounding gear install.

hey fellas i changed my spark plugs and didnt disconnect the battery and now she wont go past 2500rpm plus the vdc off light wont go out when i get the button so any help would be of great thanks. i have the 2004 coupe non rev up...

 

Why not try an ECU reset?

 

I just changed my spark plugs and my Service Engin Soon light came on. Will it go away or do I have to go and erase the memory ??

 

i also changed my spark plugs on my car and the service light turned on but on mine after maybe a hundred miles it erased my itself

 

I have done mine twice and did not get an SES. Did you remove any vacuum lines in the process? Are the coils plugged in completely? Try pulling on them without manipulating the lock on the plug. Is the engine idling fine?

 

So what happened? Sounds like a dead battery to me. Either that or you wiped out your stock ECU (did u disconnect the ground to the battery before starting?).

 

I took it to Infiniti and they fixed it in 2 days! They told me my Body Control Module was bad and the battery was dead from trying to start it so much. They said anything could of caused it to go bad even something simple as disconnecting the battery!?!?

 

Hey guys,
So I followed the steps from the DIY and just finished it about 30 minutes ago. Decided to drive it around and see if there was a difference. On the way back (I had to turn into the car wash near my place to do a U-Turn) I stalled and started the car back up. It seemed like she did not want to stay on.
After going thru the forum, another member said that he forgot to put the PVC tube back on...but when i was doing the replacement, I only took out 3 tubes (Intake and 2 from the lower plenum)...

When I start the car, and give it a little gas...the car stays on fine...

Any ideas?

Please help asap...getting worried.

 

Maybe you plugged in the wrong connector into one of the coil packs? ie, #4 plugged into #6

 

When I was replacing them, I did them one by one...So I know the sequence is right.

 

I'm going to give the E3 plugs a try. Reviews on Speed and online have been positive, my sense is it can't hurt and they cost about the same as Iridium plugs, if not a little less.

Sounds vacuum related. Wrong wire to wrong coil would have cause immediate problems and warning lights, if it'd start at all.

Did you use the correct plugs? What is the exact model # you used?

If the car runs fine cold then get's crappy when it heats up, it's likely vacuum related.
